Gotta have a bit more info regarding what you're wanting upon completion. Purposes& uses? Any particular look you're going for? Other components being used? Budget?

Im going to use it for target shooting so I am looking for accuracy, as for the look I haven't really figured that out yet. Iv been looking at some of the tactical looking setups but have not decided on one yet. I have also been looking at the 18" fluted barrels. as for cost im not to concerned it seems like everything i have looked at is with in the budget.

Well, ok... For me and the 15+ I've done, the look or desired theme dictates what I go with. Makes it easier for me to have that decided upon and being able to eliminate a bunch from the start rather than have a lot to decide from. Also need to make sure the barrel will fit the desired stock. Typically I'll use a 16" - 18" bbl unless the desired style dictates otherwise. Flutes have never been a deciding factor in a choice and typically would prefer unfluted although some don't allow that option.
A big consideration for me is having the end result be something different than others I've seen. Too many of the same old same old to make most exciting. This seems especially true with the tactical ones so thus far, I've not gone that route...yet.

Can't tell you much on barrel length, but when that's decided, Volquartsen is the place to go. https://www.volquartsen.com/ They make and carry just about anything you'd want for your 10/22 including a slew of barrels. At one time you could even get a stainless receiver and tuned out trigger housing assembly also out of solid stainless. Heavy gun, but I guess it'd be great for bench work. They also at one time had a jig to drill out the back of your receiver so the gun could be cleaned from the breech. Just plain nifty stuff. Smithy.

VQ does have good stuff but they're certainly not the do all, solve all. Aside from their barrels, the rest of their stuff is no better than any other brands. Even then, there's barrels that equal theirs. One of those occasions where you're paying for the brand name more than a higher quality when compared to some - not all - other brands.

I have been looking into a 10/22 also. I want to use it for target shooting, so I am looking at the Lipsey's 22" SS barrel:
Ruger® 10/22® Distributor Exclusives Autoloading Rifle Model 1149
Any thoughts on this?
