Hello all I just joined up and have a few questions regarding buying a ruger 10/22.
After spending quite some time researching I've found multiple mods for this gun which is friggin awesome! I really the like archangel marauder stock conversion kit.
What I'd like to know is what are my best options for building a marauder 10/22?
Should I just buy the cheapest ruger 10/22 and mod it from there? Or is there after market parts that I can build from scratch? From what I understand all you need from a RU-10/22 to mod the stock is the receiver and barrel right? so can I just buy those off the internet instead of stripping parts from a brand new gun?
Thanks
Jesse

Welcome to the forum.
The 10-22 can be built without using a single Ruger made part. Your options are really wide open and limited only by your pocket book.

Welcome from the Heart of Texas. I can't speak to the 10/22, but there'll be others by.

You can build a 10/22 styled one completely using no Ruger parts whatsoever. However, is that your best route, should be the question. Think about what you want as a final result from whatever modifications your wanting. Do you want a fun, plinker, something a bit more of a target plinker or something for competitive shooting? What route you plan for would have a BIG factor in what course you took.
If you were to buy the stock and wished to go from there without buying a complete 10/22, you'd need a receiver, bolt, bolt handle, and complete trigger assembly along with the barrel. You can certain buy all those separately but even if you were to buy Ruger ones, you'll have more money in them buying separately than if you were to buy a complete new 10/22. (remember, the receiver would need to go through a dealer for transfer so there's transfer fees there to consider too)
So it falls back on what do you want... Consider what you want once it's done (looks, performance level) and how important each aspect of that is. Now set your budget and with that budget start deciding what parts you want. Stick with what best suits your build and not just what brand others use or what brand will work with, compliment, your other parts. In other words use equal level parts. It makes no sense to go with a Kidd trigger (widely considered THE best) but use a sub-level barrel and then an even lower level scope. In that same train of thought, if you only are looking for a plinker, you wouldn't need those higher lever components and the money spent on them while not a complete waste, would be, well overspent when something less costly would give just as much enjoyment.
Think backwards from the end result.
