I have a new kidd barrel coming in for my ultimate cause I'm more than dissapointed with my tactical solutions barrels accuracy after it got warm. So today I thought I would take my old tac sol barrel off to get the receiver ready for the new barrel. how ever while attempting this I screwed up and this is what happened
yeah I don't think I can fix that or get it fixed either cause of where its at.
Well, yeah, it's not something fixable. Chalk it up as a learning experience. Keep that broken receiver as a reminder and conversation piece to makes others ask "How...?" and maybe prevent them from doing the same. I can almost hear others saying "return it to Ruger for a free replacement". Take it as you should, as a man, accepting the whoops.
That all being said, with so many of the better replacement barrels they go in tight as you surely found out initially with the TacSol one. Removing them is even worse. I forget who, but someone makes a barrel pusher for such tasks. A bit of stategically placed hot and opposing cold help as does some good penetrating lubricant.
Hate to see it happens but it's not the end of the world. Just think positive (you're going with a Kidd).
Thats pretty much what I'm doing its a paper weight now and luckily I go a bonus on my last pay check. So instead of getting a trigger gauge like I wanted, I guess a new rifle will be in order instead cause the kidd barrel will be here Wednesday. The rest of the parts I had in it where kidd any ways and whats bad is I can get a complete rifle and sell the extra parts to recover some of the cost of the un expected build and be cheaper then ordering a kidd receiver.
I hate to say it but I have to get a completed rifle cause I need this rifle back up and running before this weekend, cause my friends and I are going out of town to having a friendly shooting contest. My other rifle would work but I want to wow them and do some 100 yard shots, they don't believe a 10/22 can do it modified or not.
Terribly sorry for your loss. The sad thing about 10/22’s is that aftermarket receivers cost as much or more than a new 10/22 itself. Your best bet is to search for a clean used one and they usually fetch $150 or more.
trying to find a used 10/22 here is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. you can find them but it rarely happens and when you find them you have to pick it up right away. I found that out when I was originally building this one the first time, cause the plan was to use a pawn shop find only to have it sold before I could make it back to the pawn shop to pick it up.
Thanks bud but I actually got a replacement rifle waiting for me for when I get home at the local range as well as the kidd barrel was delivered. so once I get back to CO I get to build me a new rifle.
