Im getting a ruger 10/22 vleh tactical soon,i was wondering what modifications actually make a difference to the accuracy and performance?i know the trigger will be one,but looking at all the ruger 10/22 parts availible i cant help but think some are just sold as "better" parts but the stock part would be fine. Im from ireland so its a bit harder for me to source some items and its very expensive,a 10 shot ruger magazine is about 60$ here!

In all seriousness, shoot the heck out of it and decide what you have found the YOU need or want to change about it. Don't worry about fixing thing that you might later feel weren't broken to begin with.

Aside from the trigger, the biggest difference maker can very well be the easiest to change from one to another...the ammo. Try a bunch of different ones to see what your particular gun shoots best. Also, free float the barrel and from there you can use pressure pads as needed.

I have two different stock 10/22's that can drop Standard Velocity CCI ammo into a hole the size of a nickel at 50 yards.
I have thought about changing the trigger to maybe tighten that hole up a little, but then I scratch my head and think there might be other projects I would tackle since shooting into a nickel is not that bad.
In all seriousness I would likely change out the trigger, tweak the bolt release and add an extended magazine release over time.

First of all congratulations on your new purchase. You have made a great decision on purchasing a Ruger 10/22, one fine rifle IMO.
As others have said try different ammo to see first what it likes best, then have you considered a red dot scope? For targets up to 50 meters I prefer the red dot over a powered scope. I have an TRUGLO Tru-Point Reflex 4 MOA Red-Dot on one of my 10/22 and just love it.
Have Fun with your new purchase and be safe. Midwayuk - TRUGLO TruPoint Reflex Red Dot Sight 4 MOA Dot with Integral Weaver-Style Base Matte |

For starters, afternoon from the great state of Texas, it's good to see our friends from across the pond take part in this forum.
Should you decide to stick with iron sights I would suggest you look at Williams fire sights, these little beauties are far better than I expected and though I don't know your age, if you have a few years on your eyes as I do than they are a God send.
