10/22 finger grove stock -target or sporter?

I saw a nice 10/22 at the local gun store this week. The SN dates it to 1970 and it has the finger grove stock on it. Would it be a target or sporter model? The price of $450 makes it a bit high even with the scope on it. Its in 95% condition and I'm tempted to make an offer on it.

Catman is on a distinguished road
That is called a finger groove sporter. Was it checkered? It also should have a plastic cap on the grip with the Ruger logo and a standard grooved butt plate. IIRC 1970 means it had a prefix in the serial number but no warning.

I think the prefix was 110 and it had the plastic cap on the grip like you described. I can't remember the butt plate but thought it had a logo on it also. Can't remember about the warning either. The stock was checkered.

Sure was a beauty though. Is it priced high at $450?
