Finally got around to taking pics of my 10/22. It started life as a synthetic "paddle style" stock with usual tapered stainless barrel. Now it has a VQ .920 stainless 18" barrel (20" with compensator), Hogue Overmoulded stock, VQ buffer, VQ Target hammer. Needs a the VQ EEE, as I was having some extraction issues last time out with the new barrel. The chamber tolerances are clearly tighter than stock Ruger. Anyway, on to pics!

This is my favorite picture I've taken of my "gun porn"

I'm not one to build an "ultimate" 10/22. I like the wood stock. I like the barrel band. I love the way a 10/22 carbine looks. I just want to ameliorate the stock deficiencies.
  • Power Custom Hammer & Sear
  • Volquartsen Exact Edge Extractor
  • PWS T3 10/22 Magazine Release Lever
  • Urethane Bolt Buffer

Most of that stuff I got off Brownell's or E-Bay.

The bolt has been worked:
  • Adjusted head space to .043 +/-.0005 and adjusted the firing pin to protrude .030 +/- .003
  • Enlarged the radius where the hammer contacts during cycling and polished that area to a high shine.
  • Cross pinned the firing pin with a 3/32 hardened dowel pin, and added a chamfer to the top of the charging handle slot, which makes finding the slot during reassembly much easier.
  • Polished the ejector plunger.
  • Jeweled the ejection port side.
The work was done by Pete Lexy (click for site).

I added a BSA 3-9X32 scope that came with rings. It's not expensive. It's decent for what I need, and my current skill level.

10/22 @ 76ft, CCI Mini-Mag HP, sandbag rest, scope, no mods, 20 rounds:

Same distance & ammo, scope, + mods, 10 rounds:

My 10/22's potential now exceeds my current skill level. Before I do anything else to it, I have to improve my shooting skills.

Now if you really want to see some really crazy $$$ builds, head over to rimfirecentral.com . There are some really awesome builds there. Some 10/22 builds found there don't have any Ruger factory parts. Entire 10/22's built from aftermarket parts. Cool stuff.

Hey yall, new to the forum, not so much to the 10/22. Here's mine:

- 10/22 Compact
- Factory stock modified for butt plate and strut, "torch camo'd" and
refinished with Tung oil
- M14 trapdoor butt plate (with spacer and stash)
- PC Titanium Extractor
- Auto bolt release mod
- Tech Sights TS200
- Burris Scout 1.75x IER
- Tactical Innovations charging handle
- 16.25" factory taper barrel threaded
- UTG quad rail, modified to fit tech sights and barrel strut
- Accu-Strut barrel strut, faux gas tube
- Home made paracord adjustable sling

She's a shooter...Finally got the printer going so I'll get some targets up.

You need to photoshop out that lint though.

Seriously though... Do the holes in that barrel act as a comp, or a flash suppressor or both?

Hmmm. would a combination comp/flash suppressor be a flash compressor?

Heh, I didn't notice the lint on it until the pictures!

VQ advertises the holes as a compensator, but I imagine that it would naturally act as a flash hider as well. Although, I'm not sure much compensation would be needed with a .22....

Hi Guys
This summer I had some fun fixing up a 10/22 that I bought 20yrs ago.

[IMG][/IMG]

The first thing I did was bed the action and free fload the barrel.
I was afraid to use fiber glass for fear of guling my action to the gun so I used wood putty.
Once I got the shape I wanted I coated the putty with bar top finish.

I read on the net that giving the 10/22 action a second hold down point improved accuracy.
I replaced the recoil buffer with a bolt that goes all the way through the stock

[IMG][/IMG]

I finished the build by adding a target trigger hammer and a Simmons 22mag scope.

The gun shoots pretty well.
On most days I can get a 2" to 3" group at 100yrds.
I'm not a very good shot, but I got lucky one day and did a couple
of 100yrd groups that were around 1.5".
