Talking 10/22 International

I've always loved the look of these, but have always been empty pocketed when one was around. Well yesterday the planets and stars were alinged!
240-series 10/22 International 1995 fell off the gun rack right into my hands, with a price that almost caused me to break my wrist getting the money out.
250.00!!!!!

Great gun. I never bought one when they were available and am sorry now.

Hope you submit a range report. I've never seen much about their performance in gun magazines. Do you have a regular 10/22 to compare it with?

Good luck ...

Way back in the 60's my cousin had one and in the 70's I saw one advertised with scope for $135.00. Drove through a snow storm to get it. They were both from Ruger's 1st run back in the 60's of 1500 manufactured. Then I noticed mine had checkering, neat. Gun Digest had a story on them, only 10% were checkered. Mine will never leave me. Still shoot it when I can. Love it!!

Nice find! Now go out and find the .44 carbine International version to go with it!

I had one of the old walnut ones from back in the day - it was a true 5 digit one no prefix stuff and mint. Traded that off years ago. Picked up one of the same - another 5 digit no prefix one recently with a bit of receiver finish wear but a darn good stock. I had to give a whole $175 for it and the cheap scope that was on it.

I was about to graduate from college (96) and I was strolling through Walmart with a couple of my roommates and saw they had marked down their stainless 10/22 internationals with the green laminated stock down to like $150. I really didn't have $150 at the time, but somehow I found it. One of my roommates bought one too.

A few months later, I needed a little money for something else, so I took it down to a pawnshop to borrow some money on it. They offered to loan me up to $200! I didn't need that much, just borrowed a $100 and paid it back a few weeks later.

Everybody loves that gun. I know my kids are going to love shooting it when they get older. Of course they'll fight over it, but the looser/winner with get the Belgium Browning 22 automatic take-down model.

Unfortunatly, my 10/22 isn't a a true "International", but last year i found an International take off stock (steel nose cap included) in decent shape with honest wear and a some minor dings. Bought it for $80 shipped and put it on my 10/22. Love it! I still need to get one of those mag release levers that follow the countour of the trigger group...i think those look extra sharp coupled with the international stock!

BTW, my stock is beech (i think) and not checkered. Did Ruger ever stock internationals with walnut?

I've seen lots of laminate internationals...they all look good! I remember the green ones, i think they were a WallyWorld exclusive. My brother in law and some of his buddies bought a few, but unfortunate for me, they have all since been traded or sold off.

p.s. JohnD13, where in upstate NY are you?

Very nice. I love the International style stock and would buy one in a minute.
