Hex wrench siez to remove the barrel band of my 10/22 tactical ?

Hi all, i'm new on the Ruger forum.

I just purchased a 10/22 tactical and i want to remove the barrel band (to get the barrel + trigger group into an Archangel stock).

the issue is that i can't find the correct hex wrench size to remove this band.

since i'm located in france I use metric hex wrench, while Ruger is using imperial (US) sized Hex wrench.

So what is the correct hex wrench size needed to remove this barrel band ?

Given that you have a set of metric hex keys, which one is too small and which is too big. from this you can extrapolate which English size is needed. Surely your local hardware or tool store has English sizes of hex keys? if not, there is always EBay.

I tested 3mm (too small) and 4mm (too wide).

It could be 1/8" or 9/64".

I have the basic 10/22. It uses a 9/64" (inch) allen wrench.

Hope this helps.

KALASH NICOLE, If you can't find a 9/64" Allen, there's still hope. Use a fine file and take a few strokes on all six sides of your 4mm .... it shouldn't be too hard to get a perfect fit.
