Upgrading a ruger 10/22

What are the few or many modifications that I can do to my ruger 10/22 to give me the best out of the gun for acc. and range?

What type of buffers? What type of barrel amd so on. And can you also post how your gun looks like.

-sorry Im new to this forum and new to rugers.

Well one easy thing is you could add a new barrel which will increase the accuracy. One barrel I have heard good things about is the green mountain. I think those barrels run around $150.00.

Do some trigger work to lighten the trigger pull. It will help your accuracy out quite a bit.

+1 for trigger upgrade. i did a hammer, sear & spring kit that made a good improvement in consistency. guess next upgrade for accuracy would be a matched barrel and bolt if i was looking to do more than plinking.

Almost countless accessories available. Some are just looks, others look good and add performance. What level of performance and what look you want is all determined by the depth of the wallet. Have built up 10 or more 10/22 critters. For a basic improvement w/o breaking the bank but give VERY good results...a Green MT bbl and a trigger re-work by Clark or TT Shooter are the two that add the most performance for the best bang for buck.
My standard "go-to's" are Whistle Pig for barrels and TT Shooter for the trigger re-work.

To give some ideas:

Happy to answer specific Q's if you need. PM away.

Awards Showcase

It all depends on you budget. Personally, I replaced everything but the receiver, bolt block, ejector and safety. I had the money available, so I out about $1500 (including shipping and the price of the original rifle) into building the gun I wanted.

I suggest you check out:

eabco.com
midwayusa.com
tacticalinc.com, and
hornetproducts.com

shopruger.com also may have one or two things that will interest you.

For really high end barrels you can check out volquartsen.com

I'd start with the trigger.

Trigger is all i've done so far and it has worked wonders. I'm leaving the carbine stock barrel on, so that is next on my to do list (re-crowning and bedding it).
But start with the trigger for sure

Cheap build.

E. R. Shaw barrel. Factory stock "modified". Adjustable sear. I did the hammer. Torsion bar trigger return spring. Installed set screw for trigger top/overtravel. I did the bolt work (.425). Pinned firing pin. Pillar bedded the action screw. "Pinned" the rear of the action. Adjustable V-block. Additional torque screw 6" from receiver under barrel. Modded the factory bolt release to "automatic" bolt release. lots of polishing. 2# trigger. No creep. A barely perceptible amount of pretravel. CCI minimags will do 1/2" at 50 yards fairly consistently. Someone who benchrests successfully should do better, I'm sure.
Now I'm ready to start on the Stag M4. Or maybe the Remington 581.
