I agree with weblance ..... I got really frustrated with my TD .... almost to the point of getting rid of it. The VQ cantilever scope base wasn't cheap but it totally solved my problems.
Due to my poor vision, I depend on a scope. I have four 10/22s in all .... one is a custom build so I won't count it but the other two are a factory Carbine and a factory Manlicher, both with Nikon 2~7X rimfire scopes, the same exact scope I have on my TD. Before I mounted the VQ cantilever base, the TD was by far the least accurate and unpredictable as compared to the two conventional 10/22s. Now with the barrel mounted VQ base, my TD is actually a bit more accurate than the other two 10/22s. I can take the rifle down then reassemble it and my "zero" stays exactly the same. Before with the receiver mounted scope, I would have to tighten the lock ring every couple magazines because it would work loose, causing groups to spread. I still have to tighten the lock ring occasionally but it no longer affects my groups.
