I like having good glass on my rifles, but right now money is tight. The Ruger 10-22 book recommended the BSA 4 X 12 X 40 scope made for the Air guns as a great scope for a very low price. I bought one at Natchez shooters supply for $35.00. For the price it is a fantastic scope, looks as good as one's that cost far more, Very sharp and the turrets work well. It most likely has about 90% light transmission, but is plenty bright as long as there is some light. It will need 1" high rings to clear the barrel (Mediun might work, but I ordered high to be sure, it has a good size bell) For a low priced scope or one to get you by until you have the money to buy better glass, it's the one to get. I'll put it on my air rifle as soon as I get better glass for the 10-22. A lot of guys at RimfireCentral are using the Mueller scopes at about $125.00 on their mini's as their perminate scope. It will most likely be my next scope for the 10-22. Beest Regards, John K |

If it works for your needs, have at it. From my own experience with BSA fodder, I wouldn't take the gift of any of their stuff.

It's a temp scope until I can get a better one. I wanted the 12 x for shooting groups. The Ruger book thought highly of it for a cheap scope. I'm not trying to say it's the one to stick with, just that if your money is tight, it's about the best low priced scope I have seen. I have used the .22 Mags and Simmons .22 scopes and this is a good improvement over them. The Nikon Pro Staff is a great scope for a .22 It will hold up well and is sharp and clear. Not a bad choice. Good glass is so darn expensive these days, you can easily pay three times as much as you paid for the rifle if you want a really good one. I don't think that you need a $500.00 scope for a rifle that is usually shot at 50 yds. Some who shoot really long distance or compete in matches will want much better glass than the average .22 shooter. The $125.00 Mueller scope is used by a great many over at RimFire Central and has been highly praised. It may be worth looking at. I have not had the chance yet, but do want to check it out. Try the Redfield Scopes, that's what I'm putting on my mine. Plus at $139 and made in the Great US of A, you can't go wrong.

I have been buying NcStar's for 22's and just bought two Tasco's 6x24x42's for kids 10/22 i have been building. Hornet triggers all on Amazon scope was 71 and trigger was 100. 1/4 mildot scopes. I like better than the 2.5x10 or the 4x12 Bushnells.

I persoanlly like Simmons scopes for rimfire rifles. I use a 3x9x40, and shoot just under 1/4" groups at 100 yds. Scope is clear, and functions well.
