Hey guys, I'm Steve - new member here. Looks like a very active and informative forum, very cool. Here are a couple shots of my Takedown, including one with its big brother.
So far, I've put in a bolt buffer, auto bolt release, Hogue stock, and Skinner sights. I plan on getting a Brimstone Tier 2 trigger job before too long. My only issue at the moment is the sights. I like 'em, but I don't love 'em. I tend to lose the front sight if my target is dark in color. I may try painting it and seeing how much that helps. Aside from that, the basic design of the Skinner peep sights isn't very conducive to making adjustments if I need to. Sure, it can be done, but I'm not sure I want to take up time at the range tapping the rear sight left or right to correct my windage.
Perhaps painting the sight will do the trick. If I can see the sight better, I'll -theoretically- shoot better. I window-shop other sight options constantly, wondering which ones I might really like using. It's a takedown, not a fixed-barrel target rifle, so I'm not expecting one ragged hole. I plink at the range from 25-50 yards and I just want to be more accurate than I have been. I'll figure something out.
Overall, the rifle has been -and is- a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to entering into some local competitions this Spring.
