Need a bit of help, please.

I have a theory I would like to prove or disprove. Could anyone who has a great running 10/22 please show me a pic of the bolt face, showing the distance between the extractor claw, and the bolt face?
I think my bolt may be drilled wrong, as my extractor claw sits far above the rim of a cartridge, and all the photos I can find show much less distance there.

In or out of the rifle? I can't do it tonight, wifey does not like a racket in the evening.

My gun shoots fine.

My extractor sticks out less than 1/8" from the bolt face. I can't see the flat surfaces that form a 90 degree angle like I can see on yours.

From the recess where the rim sits, or from the actual bolt face. From what I've seen in other bolts, and from lots of photos, my extractor slot was cut wrong, and the extractor sits too far out.

I'm talking about from the face of the bolt. From your picture, yours sticks out from the bolt face about twice as far as mine does. I didn't take my bolt out to look, I just peeked in through the ejection port. What problems are you experiencing, you haven't mentioned any problems?

I'm no gun expert just a semi-serious shooter, there are some great gunsmiths on here with the expertise to answer your question much better than I. I'm sure they'll help you out.

Good luck!

Have you made sure your extractor is fit all the way into the bolt?
It looks partly removed.
