First outing with SR22 disappoint

Took our new SR22 and Mark 4 out today for first time. The Mark 4 did well, no trouble, only 2 no fires, Winchester ammo. The SR 22 however had lots of fire fails, ejection fails. Ammo used were Winchester and Federal target ammo. All fired on second try. Rather disappointed. Gun prep was a patch Down the bore and wipe off the factory oil. Temperature outside was about 28. Would it being cold cause problems, or what would cause these troubles?
Thanks

I used Federal Target ammo for the first time in my older SR22 the other day. I had the same problem as you. Out of a box of 50, I had about 8 no fires, but worked on the second time through. Switched to a box of 50 Aguila Super Extra and not one misfire.

Both issues sound like weak ammo being run through a brand new short barreled semi-auto. Run a box or two of CCI mini mags through it and lube it good, I'm guessing you will be good to go. The first day out with mine it had a few hiccups. I went back in the house and brought out a variety of ammo and found out it doesn't like Federal Auto Match much, Winchester even less, but it gobbles up Remington Thunderbolts, CCI's, Aguila and just about everything else. After about 500-600 rounds it started shooting the Federal good. I was out of Winchester at the time, haven't tried it anymore since. Give it some time, keep it clean.

The cold weather probably thickened the lubricant and added to the sluggish operation.
Tear it down, totally clean all the factory stuff out and re oil with a light lubricant ( RemOil is good) or a Dry-Lube and I have a feeling with a bit warmer weather you will have better results.
A little break shooting in will also smooth things up. Don't despair.

Yup. As the doctor used to say, shoot two boxes of CCI Mini-mags and call me in the morning.

Also keep super firm wrist. The SR22 is very unforgiving it not held solidly.

No limp wristing allowed.
