10/22 first time out, first impressions

So I finally picked up a 10/22, always wanted one. I got the collectors edition, not because I'm a collector, haha, but because it was light weight for hunting and has iron sights like my M1A. I had zeroed it in once before with my eotech at 50 yds. Did pretty good, imho.

But.... today I slapped on an old Barska I had laying around, just a cheap 3-13 x50. Zeroed at 50 then onto 100 yds, just for poop and giggles. I was surprised!!!! At 100 yds, I could barely see my shots, but once i did, holy cow!! I had about 2 inch groupings! I didn't have a bipod, shooting off a block and hard sandbag under my elbow. Not my typical long range setup. I'm sure I could've done better with a typical setup. There was a little bit of wind, too.

Have to say, I'm pleased and impressed!! Out of all my guns, its the most runtish (no offense, just lack of better words when compared to my M1A, Sig MCX, Win heavy barrel 70, etc., but obviously can hold its own). I totally get the cult following mentality now. So.... With it shooting like this, how much accuracy can be gained with aftermarket parts? I'm so used to just assuming I need to buy parts and make a gun better, but is a new barrel worth it? Triggee worth it? Etc.? Or just leave it be?

Nice shooting. Have to agree that the 10/22 is a nice little rifle.

I thought the BX trigger was a nice upgrade. Smoother and with a much lighter overall pull.

Try a Kidd trigger. Big improvement.

Trigger job or get a Kidd. Try a red dot on the rail. You have a versatile and fun rifle. Pic of mine.

If I were to upgrade my 10-22 I'd get a new trigger assembly to start. The stock barrel is very accurate but a lot of people replace them. You can easily spend $1000 on your 10-22 if you wan to. That will make it a tack driver.

Most important is to find the ammo that works 100% of the time and groups best from your gun, then stock up on the ammo. Look on line for a number of dealers and try to buy when they are offering a sale and FREE shipping.

In My Opinion, the only thing a stock 10/22 NEEDS is a trigger. I recommend the KIDD Trigger Job Kit. Its the best $100 spent on a 10/22. After that, you can spend as much as you want to upgrade your 10/22, but that trigger is the best bang for the buck you will see in performance.
