Just a few thoughts on the 10/22.
1) Shoot it for a while before you attempt to trick it out. You may be very happy with it as it comes out of the box.
2) Purchase some spare magazines. I prefer the ten shot variety.
3) For a scope, I tried the BSA "Sweet 22" (around $60) and have had very good luck. I have also heard others say they were less impressed.
4) I got a
TruGlo sight for one of my 10/22s and have never had so much fun with it and shoot it better than any, except the scope. Especially good for plinking. If you go with this option, watch Midway for sales. They run a sale on the TruGlo about once a month or six weeks (save enough to more than cover the shipping).
5) I would be inclined to scope the heavy barrel Target model.
