I haven't put enough rounds through mine yet to have to clean it. But at the next show, I'll be buying a BoreSnake for it. And I'm leaving mine stock, it's fine just as it is.

Man, is this little rifle a lot of fun, or what!

My 10/22 is the one they call the Wally World special (hardwood stock with stainless 22" barrell and sling swivels). I put a Simmons 22mag 4x scope on it with Redhead rings and a butler creek sling. She'll drill some NICE groups at 50 yds. If I had it to do over again (or if what is avaiable now was around then) I would probably get the new heavy barrelled one from Accusport and put a 3-9x on that baby! But, I am really happy with mine. You'll enjoy yours alot. BTW, it's lethal on squirrels.

Just a few thoughts on the 10/22.

1) Shoot it for a while before you attempt to trick it out. You may be very happy with it as it comes out of the box.
2) Purchase some spare magazines. I prefer the ten shot variety.
3) For a scope, I tried the BSA "Sweet 22" (around $60) and have had very good luck. I have also heard others say they were less impressed.
4) I got a TruGlo sight for one of my 10/22s and have never had so much fun with it and shoot it better than any, except the scope. Especially good for plinking. If you go with this option, watch Midway for sales. They run a sale on the TruGlo about once a month or six weeks (save enough to more than cover the shipping).

5) I would be inclined to scope the heavy barrel Target model.

Above all else, have fun, shoot safe.
