Ruger 10/22 magnum

Hello guys, I am thinking about buying one and was wondering is, would iy be a bad buy? I have heard echoes of bad things but do not know the real truth. Does anyone know the real deal with the RUGER 10/22 MAGNUM?

Would the Magnum Research be a better rifle? I heard they are identical rifles and share the same stock, trigger group etc.

More data for you. I like the idea of .22 mag but it is about the same price as 5.56/223 ammo.

Yes. By far a better rifle than a factory Ruger

Yeah, I know the price is similar but a .22 mag is good when a .223 is too much

So what I am finding out is stay away from the Ruger 10-22 .22 magnum rifle. I kind of like the Magnum Research's but I am steering to the Volquartzen's rifle. What is delaying the purchase is the warranty, it's only for a year. In my mind if a rifle has the price the Volquartzen has the warranty is usually for a lifetime. Even the JRC has a lifetime warranty that use to be only two yrs.

Expecting a LIFETIME WARRANTY on any firearm is like asking FERRARI to guarantee one of their sports cars for life. Not realistic considering the use and abuse some people put on their guns...

As to your original question of Ruger 10/22 Magnum vs Volquartsen or Magnum Research - RUGER only made the 10/22 in a .22Mag configuration from 1998 to 2006 so any of those you buy are already 10 years old. In addition the current purchase price is anywhere from $1000 to $2000 depending on condition. So the price of a Volquartsen at a bit over $1000 or Magnum Research in the $600 range is not so bad....

The other comment comparing a .22 Magnum to a .223/5.56 is like comparing a .308 to a Howitzer . . .

Plenty of manufacturers give a lifetime warranty.

I wasn't comparing a 22mag to a 223.

While the Magnum Research is probably a better gun, the Ruger just has that cool factor. It's one of the guns I'd love to someday buy.

The Ruger does have a cool factor but if you own one you cannot shoot it, if you do you may be lucky and it preform well but there is a higher % that it will crack a receiver or other well known problems. If you have a problem you cannot count on Ruger to help, the least they will do is send you a bolt action 22 mag or 22lr 10-22.

First most "Lifetime Warranties" are for the original owners, and you have to prove it's you. If the product is no longer in production or supported with replacement parts, they will offer what THEY consider a suitable replacement. Ruger doesn't produce the 10-22 magnum anymore, and the parts you can still buy New are limited to what's produced for the 10-22 22LR rifle that interchanges and the magazines, because the rotating mag is now used in the American Rimfire 22 mag.

Second, I agree your statement was 22 mag ammo is priced about the same a .223. You never compared a 22 mag rifle with a .223 rifle.
