Ruger 10-22 M1 Carbine

I don't need another 10-22 as I already have three, but when I saw this new M1 Carbine version at my LGS I couldn't resist. Every so often Ruger will come out with a new version of this venerable old favorite like their Collector Series or some other neat version. Well this new M1 Carbine version is IMO one of the coolest ones yet. I believe it is a distributor exclusive and very limited. The stock from a distance makes you think you're looking at an M1 Carbine, and is beautifully grained walnut.
What do you guys think?

I got to fondle one the other day. I think it is the coolest variation yet of the venerable 10/22. Like you, I own a few, so I didn't pick it up, but it does indeed look great!

Doesn't do anything for me, just like I never saw the point of .22s made to look like AR-15s. But whatever makes other shooters happy and sells more guns makes me happy.

The wood stock quality does look very good.

I have been thinking about getting a 10-22, as I haven't had one in 7 or 8 years. This model has pushed me over the fence ! Is it a regular Ruger model or a distributor exclusive ?
Never mind. I just did a search on them and read where they are a distributor exclusive, made for TALO.

It appears to be a dealer exclusive: TALO.
Ruger M1 Carbine 10/22 #21138 ? TALO Distributors Inc

There was some discussion over at RFC about it. Most comments were favorable, with a few gripes about the P-rail with rear sight. Challenge would be getting a decent-looking mag (or mag extension) to carry on the look. http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...ght=M1+Carbine

It is done up better than my Marlin 99M1, but primarily because it is box-mag fed rather than the Marlin's tube feed.

Edit: Sandog, your recent edit beat me to the punch!

I've got 2, 10-22's one is the standard carbine bought back around 1970, and the other is a recently purchased International, believe me, if I have the opportunity to get that M-1 carbine design you can bet your bottom dollar I'll get it. I already have a M-1 Carbine by Iver Johnson, however a .22LR would fit right in.

There are some after market M1 carbine conversion stocks for the 10-22, and some are quite nice. I have one and it's okay but I feel the Ruger one is superior in that it's walnut. Also the Ruger has a rear peep sight plus a pica tinny rail should you choose to add an optic. If you don't like the rail it's easy to remove. This is a limited edition so if you want one I recommend you buy the 1'st one you see. My dealer got 2 and said he can't get anymore as they're sold out already.

Nice one mag318! I was just looking at aftermarket stocks for the 10/22 and this limited edition from Ruger looks very good.

Another nice thing with the Ruger version is the peep sight from the factory. With the aftermarket stocks there is a cutout for the rear sight on the barrel but it is difficult to use, so most opt for mounting a rear peep.
