feeding and cleaning the 10/22

kind of wanting to know what what you have went through to get a 10/22 to feed, i have been using winchester, cci, remington and federal. (both jacket and lead) it is a newer gun with about 300 rounds
but sometimes it stove pipes, sometimes fail's to complete eject,
i know the action gets dirty, so i clean out the action and seems to work for about 30 rounds with out a jam, then its back,
i'am thinking that i still need to shoot some more rounds, to get it be more reliable in feeding but is a pain to clean it, have you any ideas in a cleaner or modifications that i need to look at? or what you have changed or what lube?
thanks

usa1_chevy, Take a look at the IBOK for the 10/22 in the Library. It has all the details for fixing feed and extraction problems. See: http://www.rugerforum.net/showthread.php?t=9854

Thanks Iowegan, now i see the different library's, when we used to email you, you've helped me on a mkII before with one of your files.
you would think that with all the different modifications people use, that they could implement some into the production. but their will always something to tinker with, and that what is nice about a ruger, you can set it up the way you like!

Had the same problem with our first 10/22. Put in a VQ extractor and had no more problems.

up date......... just had a chance to try it this weekend, big change works great and functions like it should, had a power customs hammer and shear, also installed,it sure changed the pull, and have learned a lot more about this, with a lot of checking back too Iowegan IBOK, has make this in to a sweet little 22 and now a keeper.

EricW is an unknown quantity at this point
Remington dri-lube works great. No oily mud in action or trigger assembly. I can shoot my 10/22 1000 times without cleaning and rarely a stove pipe. Volquartsen exact edge extractor, polished internals. Factory magazine is typically the best for reliablility..CCI minimags should feed well. Always had luck with bulk pack Federal champion(plated) from walmart and rural king and Winchester 333 or 555. Never luck with remington rimfire ammo though they make 30 different types.

Zombie thread. Back from the dead. Actually, i had the same problem with a 10/22 I bought recently. I took out the extractor, cleaned it in addition to the spring, detent, and the channel that the spring sits in and haven't had the problem again.... so far.
