Worn-Out Firing Pin Spring?

I have a Quartzen bolt with thousands of rounds shot. I am recently getting "light strikes". (Sometimes barely a dent) Is this a gunsmith fix? or can I do it myself?

Rifle is clean.

Thanks

The bolt is clean and the firing pin moves freely and fully forward? Is the firing pin channel clean with no chips or debris? Is the tip of the firing pin in good shape or is it worn or chipped? A new firing pin, if you need it, is an inexpensive fix. Try just taking out the firing pin and checking and cleaning the channel and spring first.

You do understand the firing pin spring pushes the firing pin away from the round, not towards it. The hammer spring is what determines how hard the pin strikes the cartridge rim. Weak strikes are some sort of combination of hammer spring and firing pin itself. A worn firing pin can cause light strikes. I would change the hammer spring and see if that helps. If it doesn't replace the firing pin. You just need to drive of the firing pin roll pin and then you can replace the firing pin, spring and roll pin. Or pay a gunsmith to fix it.

Hi Cmdr and others. I had a choice of shooting today or tearing into the firing pin and it's quartzen roll pin. The shooting won out.

The problem has not gone away of course. The "fail to fires" are very weak hits and
almost miss the round altogether. So, I think you are correct about the pin being worn, I wouldn't know the difference by just looking.

I have no problem with ordering a couple springs and firing pins. The Quartzen
unit has lasted through many thousands of rounds, so I'm happy.
