Remington Yellow Jacket

Does anyone here have any experience with shooting the yellow jacket's in their 10/22. If you do how did they perform? I only ask because I found 1000 rds in my stash that I have no idea how they got there, but was wondering how they performed in the 10/22.

They feed OK and hit hard- that is all I can remember about them. The fragile hollowpoint is somtimes crushed in my MKII if a slight misfeed occurs.

I use them all the time in my 10/22 and Ruger pistols. I like them, I've taken nearly a dozen coyotes with Yellow Jackets.

You're just going to have to try them and see if your gun likes them. I have a MK III Hunter that they refuse to work in. My 10/22 will work fine with them as long as I use the stock mags and not the High Cap Butler Creek mags. A friend has a 10/22 that is jam city with the Yellow Jackets. Like I said, each gun will tell you what it likes. Good luck, Doc.

Since you got 'em shoot 'em. I have not found my 10/22 or MkII to be very picky. I have found that consistency varies on the cheaper ammo (FTF). CCI minis and Aquilla HV are my favorites but I have stock-piled Fiochi, Federals, Win - Dynapoints and others.

Believe or not one of my favorites is Win Wildcats, but they moved production facilities awhile back and were hard to find when I was bulk buying.

Back 30 years or so when my buddies and I all had 10/22's we were yellow jacket fanatics. Now I don't see the value in buying them. I do buy CCI Stiners for carry in my Walther P22 though.

As another poster mentioned, avoid the aftermarket high-capacity mags (Ramline, etc.). My brother found that they (and any other truncated round) would not feed at all. It is no fun unloading these magazines by hand. Especially the old 50-rd variety. After quickly loading up a couple with an EZ Loader. No such thing as an EZ Unloader ...

Otherwise they work fine. I bought several bricks years back. They were marked $2.50. Apparently it meant $2.50 per box. Neither the clerk or I realized the error ... until I returned for more.

Good luck.

Its a funny thing, most folks talk about how their rifle doesnt agree with Remington ammo, however this is my 11th 10/22 and it absolutley loves all Rem. ammo the Yellow Jackets cover a nickel @ 75 feet and yes they do hit hard and also they feed fire and eject.

the yellow jackets work fine in my bolt guns but sometimes have feed problems in the auto-loaders and accuracy is not as good as with auto loaders.

ill second that. its always worth trying different ammo in any gun. theres enough variation in what a 10/22 or any make or model of firearm that nobody can state that all 10/22`s or all mkI, II, III pistols will or wont shoot any particular ammo well or badly. It comes down to you having to do the testing for each gun you own. i like the yellow jackets and they have functioned well as i could expect, they are almost on the same level as stingers.

I think the beef with Remington ammo is with the Blunderbolts, I mean thunderbolts...they are as inconsistent as a 2 year old and as dirty to boot...the yellow jackets are a pretty powerful .22 round...1500 fps if I recall correctly...and that hollow point puts the smack down on any small animal like nobody's business...and they are not the cheapest round either...not like bulk pack Federal or Winchester stuff...they don't group the best in MY 10/22, but they work great in my 77/22 bolt action...go shoot it up!

I bought a bag of mixed and I mean mixed 22 l.r. from a guy at a flea market Id guess 1000 plus rounds.. Some shot great Some shot ok.. but the kids and I had a stress free couple of hours at the farm shooting cans. If you have some ftf's or fte's...Oh well you found them in your stash burn them up and enjoy

I buy them in boxes of 500, and they feed great through my Mk III. I get maybe 5% fallout due to misfires, feed jams, etc. Not bad considering the cost. Definitely wouldnt want to use them to compete. I get a group at 25 yards of 100 rounds that I can cover with a quarter, but have been told that I can get a better group with match rounds.
