All I am a new 10/22 owner & like my AR I would like to change or add to it. I think I want to put a bull barrel on it. I believe that will help with accuracy is that right?

So I am looking for advice and sources.
Thank you

Bull barrel doesn't automatically mean it's more accurate than a sporter profile barrel. More than just one thing that goes into accuracy.

With so many options, take some time and look and see what others have done and what is out there. Then you'll have a better foundation to use to decide from. Make it yours, not just a copy on another.

The best improvement I've made to any 10/22 is a good trigger.
I spent lots of cash along the way:( trying to avoid just spending the money for a good one.

10/22's

I think there might be almost as many mods you can make to a 10/22 as you can to an AR! For me, it was deciding what I wanted the rifle to do & what I wanted it to look like before I started buying stuff for it. On the 'low' end, I've taken a stock 10/22 and just put a scope on it. On the 'high' end, I've taken a stock 10/22 and changed everything...there isn't anything left of the original rifle so I put the original rifle parts back together and then I changed that! Triggers, barrels, stocks, bolts, bolt handles, sights, receivers, stocks...there isn't anything that you can't replace and/or modify. Some of my 10/22's I changed the trigger, some got triggers and stocks, some got barrels, triggers and stocks, some got lasers & red dots. Most of them got scopes. Over a dozen 10/22's now and I'll probably buy more! Worse than crack!

Yep. The only thing Ruger on my 10/22 is the magazines. The best piece of advice is to determine what your end goal is going to be. There is no sence in buying a stock 10/22 if your going to mod it to the point where you can assemble a stock 10/22 with all the leftovers.

Tony Kidd at www.coolguyguns.com is a one stop shop for excellent quality 10/22 parts. Nice people with excellent / fair shipping charges.

My 10/22 is all Tony Kidd parts, and a Revolution Stock from Stocky's Gun Stocks. Scope rings are Warne Low Quick Disconnect, and the scope is a Nikon Pro Staff Rimfire.

Ammo is a big piece of accuracy.

I would first shoot your rifle and then decide what it needs and what you want from it. A scope may be the ticket... or a barrel... or a new trigger assembly... or maybe that stock rifle will do what you want.

Welcome to the forum!!

Wow that is a beautiful looking rile Jbooker82! Can you tell me why you made the mods you did? Was it just aesthetics? My wanting it to be accurate is because I owned a GSG 522 I sighted it for 50 feet on a 75 foot range and beyond 50 feet (yes feet) the bullet seemed to drop 2 or more inches. I would like to go out and shoot squirrels & rabbits.

I actually started out with the intensions of a modded 10/22 Take Down. I wanted a 50th anniversary T.D. so I paid and reserved one at my local sporting goods store. They didn't know when they would be able to get one in because their supplier was out of stock with a back log of orders. I was ok with the wait at first. I started buying upgrade parts while I was waiting for my T.D. to come in. I had the Kidd stage 1 trigger, and cocking handle/recoil spring kit, and buffer ordered. Then I though the black scalloped bolt would look sweet. The purchase of the bolt was a cosmetic decision, but it does have benefits other than cosmetic.

I started thinking about having a member on here cut a Revolution stock and machine it to work with the Take Down. When I got to that point I was a couple months in to the wait and was getting ancy. I got to thinking that I really didn't need a take down. The only thing I was going to be using was a Ruger receiver, and T.D. barrel. So I canceled my take down on order and used the refunded cash twards a Kidd receiver and threaded, fluted 16" barrel.

So the long wait saved me from purchasing a whole stock Ruger rifle to only turn around a swap all the parts out.

As for accuracy you should be able to get really good results with the factory setup, and a good aftermarket trigger. The trigger makes a huge part because you don't jerk or move the gun when pulling a stiff gritty trigger. My Kidd stage 1 trigger barley moves when you pull it. There isn't much travel at all.

Like any rifle, the best thing you can do to it is a new trigger. I like Timney. There is also Volquartsen, Tactical Solutions, Kidd, and a few others. One trigger isn't necessarily "better" than the other. They all feel a little different and the one that's "best" is personal preference.

I have a 10/22 that's mechanically stock besides polishing the internals and a light trigger job. It will outshoot me with the right ammo. Remington golden bullet and thunderbolt both gave me 1-1.5" groups at 25ish yards while Eley target rounds were one ragged hole with a flyer. Take it out and put a few hundred rounds through it and then start small. Triggers are a lot cheaper than barrels and can help a lot more imo.

Mine is a 1973 vintage non target model. Factory barrel, Kidd hammer, Hogue stock. It's as accurate as I need it to be. This is 70 rounds at 25 yards w/Weaver K4 scope. A mix of CCI Mini Mags and Remington Target. A couple of flyers when I got in a hurry on the last mag.

Best bang for the buck on the 10/22 is a good trigger followed by good sights or scope. The 10/22 is the Barbie Doll of firearms. I think there are more aftermarket parts for the 10/22 than for the AR-15. It is modular, every part except the serial numbered receiver can be replaced. I personally am not capable of shooting to the inherent accuracy of the standard barrel so buying a super accurate name brand barrel would be a waste for me. A better trigger and better sights (peep sights) have helped to improve my marksmanship.
