| Marlin Model 60
Hey all. I got a Marlin Model 60 when I was about 13 or 14. It always stayed out at my Grandfather's house and that's where it's been until tonight. I decided he should no longer have it when I found it loaded, chambered, and safety-off last time I was there at Easter.
I have no idea how many rounds I put through it and I know it never got cleaned because until tonight I never even knew how to break it down. It was super dirty and I worked on it for a couple hours to clean it up. The action was frustrating because there are so many hard to reach areas and I couldn't find anywhere that showed how to break it down. So I did my best and cleaned everything as best I could (even took the butt plate off).
So now my question is, does anyone else here have one of these? Mine is the tube fed variety. Also, does anyone know of a video online that shows how to break down the action? I'd really like to take it apart and give it a good cleaning.
Thanks for reading and thanks for the help!

I found this for you,
I did not watch it so I don't know what all is in it. On that page there's more stuff about the M60 Marlin/Glenfield. http://www.dogpile.com/search/web?fc...+glenfield&ql=

I have one that also spends most of it's time in a safe.
I grew up shooting a Remington tube fed bolt action .22, so when I saw a tube fed Model 60 at a gun show, I just wanted to take it home.
Don't shoot it much, but it is a lot of fun.

I have a Model 70 that I've ad for years. It's simply the bottom mag eqivilant. I did win a Model 60 that I'm waiting it's arrival. Never owned a tube fed 22lr so I'm kinda excited. Thinking it'll be a smile-maker for a certain boy here. |

I had one,the stainless model. I gave it to my grandson. That really made his day. That is the same video I've watched before. Pretty easy to tear down and clean. Very accurate gun.

So is this like the Marlin version of the 10/22? Are there as many customization possibilities with the Model 60? I'm considering getting this gun set up really well for my kids. I have an 8 month old son right now and another on the way. Then I get myself a 10/22 haha

My Marlin Model 60 is the best rifle I have ever owned. It is the long barreled version and I wouldnt trade for it. Although I have a 10-22 international that I am seriously thinking about trading off

One of my friends has the Marlin Papoose, which is basically the same action. I was amazed at just how well it shot. No one ever accused the Marlin 22 autos of being high grade guns, but, like all Marlins, they do one heck of a job for money spent. If I didn't already have more 22 autos than I could use, now, I'd probably own one.

They will put a stock 10/22 to shame with their out of the box accuracy! There are many you tube vid's that walk you through the steps to dis-assembly of the Model 60. My favorite gun of any 22 auto!

I had one a few years ago... Here's what I learned.
1) Marlin still has parts and works on them.
2) YouTube has videos on just about any gun out there
3) Check on Marlin's website - gun sites just about always have their owner's manuals available for downloading.
4) At that age I'd replace springs and the extractor just due to age and wear. They're cheap parts and may let you avoid some frustration at the range.
5) DON'T oil the stock or leave standing oil on the receiver that can run down into the open ends of the stock.
6) Consider storing the gun - muzzle down (see #5)
Good gun. A real keeper..

Love Marlin semi-autos. I've got a 60DLX & a 795, both of which shoot lights out.
I've also got a '69 99M1, that was my childhood .22. At a minimum, it needs a sear (was starting to double on me, when last I shot it in '86 or so), buffer & springs.
Numrich should have everything you need, parts wise. Also, check out Rimfire Central. Overwhelming amount of information on all makes of rimfires & a great resource for the rimfire enthusiast.

I'm pleased with my M-795SS, the stainless box magazine version with black synthetic stock.
I added a sling, which is all I want to do. I'm not someone who likes buying guns and adding all sorts of stuff to them. I try to buy what's right to begin with!
I have indeed read that Marlins easily outshoot Ruger 10--22's.

My Model 60 was my 11th birthday present and it has showed no signs of slowing down. I don't clean it that often and even so I don't think I have really had more than 6-8 malfunctions since getting it in 1998. All I have is a cheap Bushnell scope on it. Everything else is original. The stock has a few small dings but nothing major. I hope to pass it down if I ever have kids.
