Question My Wal Mart......

Now carries DMPS M4 style rifles and SIG 556 rifles at low low prices. Is this only in my area or is this nation wide? The woman at the counter had no idea as they make the paint department run firearms now. She was unhappy with it though and made that much very clear.

Various brands and models of EBRs have been spotted at walmarts nationwide for the last few months.

I never planned on getting an AR, but at a little over 500 + tax I might as well. The Sig was a decent price too, it was like 580 or something, not a bad deal at all!

They also had 7.62 ammo for $5.00, and 9MM for $9.00..

If wal mart sold handguns they'd put all the local gun stores out of business in about a month...

I can't remember exactly what she said to me but the begining of it was "Well..Not all our [firearms] customers are like you..." She paused and I said "They're probably looking for a .22 for their son or something, right?" She nodded and went on scanning my $100.00 worth of ammo.

Well I'm sure that I will not get this right...... I just want to say is Wal-Mart does have great prices but, their only interest in the firearm market is because its is the HOT commodity right now. They are only interested in the bottom line. I will ALWAYS spend my hard earned dollars at the mom and pop store. They are the backbone of our great nation. I do understand that times are tuff but, remember that every one job that Wal-Mart generates 3-4 local jobs are lost........ Sorry about the spelling lol

Me too, personally I'd rather spend at a local store and wal mart does annoy me greatly sometimes, but my local gun store has pretty cruddy service and even worse prices, so then it boils down to which is cheaper and wal-mart always wins.

They are a brand new Item here in southeast Nebraska, also. The department manager claims credit, but it seems pretty coincidental so close to election, given the sales of guns and ammo of LAST election! MONEMONEYMONEY

Before I left for Iraq a few months ago my local Wal-Mart carried Bushmasters, Sig AR's, and Mini 14's.

My Walmart is now selling AR-15s made by Colt, Sig, and Windham....had some Bushmasters back in the winter as well. The Colt is $1,097.00.

And another reason why I'd gladly pay more at the gun shop than at Walmart. You get a free stir stick with every gun purchase?

The Wal-mart here sells them as well. They had a DPMS the last time I was in there. I think it was like $527, which is about $200 cheaper than the mom and pop stores here in town. If I was in the market for a base model AR-15 (I'm not because my wife won't let me), I'd probably look hard at that Wal-mart special. Then, I'd go to my local gun shop, tell them what I had found and see if they could find me/build me something similar within $100. If they could, I'd cough up the extra dough and get it from them. If not, I'd get the Wal-mart deal and go from there.

I don't particularly care for the fore end on that DPMS. It's that fat, round grip with the holes along the bottom VS the more slender quad rails on other ARs. I think this is the one they sell. Or very similar to it:
