Henry .17 HMR

I bought one of my grandsons a Henry .17 HMR Octagon barrel in Sept. He has been shooting it as often as he can ever since. I took him to the range yesterday,I was suprised how good he has become with it. At 100 yds. he is almost always in the 4 ring, with most in the black. Not bad for a 13 year old.
I have to say the Henry is one of the smoothest actions I have ever used. I have not tried their larger caliber guns but if they function as well as there smaller caliber rifles they will be around for a very long time. Just an observation

Tell me about the young eyes, but I do have a weaver 3.5x10 scope mounted on it.
I am down in Fl. 48 weeks a year & use the range at Truckers Grade, they have a shotgun, 100 yrd rifle, 200yrd rifle, pistol,& bow range,it,s free and well kept.
When I am up in NY I have a house in the lower Catskills with a lot of land & we were shooting up there this week. We got a really warm week.

I,m thinking next Hog season about hunting in there.
I was shooting there with one of my granddaughters about a month ago,she goes to FGCU. I had a S&W 357 my Ruger Mark 3 & my Ruger 10/22 magnum. Next to us @ the 100 yrd range was a local "good old boy",he loved the 10/22 & said if he had one thats what he would use to hunt hogs in there.
Never thought a 22 magnum was big enough for Wild Hogs.
If you do happen to go over there you might see a bunch of the 4 wheel swamp buggys parked by the ranger station, seems that,s what the locals hunt with.I don,t know if I would like to walk around in there. Lots of creepy crawler things. I was going to try and hook up with one of the swamp buggy guys,to hunt with.

Forget about walking thru,Just to mention thousands of snakes on the dirt road sunning themselves, then like you said the creepy crawlies. The swamp buggy is the way to go,I was thinking of maybe buying into a RIDE along to go hunting with some sort of guide,It is big in there and can get lost. 22mag can do it but ihave taken hogs in Pa. with the 357 magnum....We are flying down for a week soon and will check on any ride along fees if any,you know how the floridians can be against Northerners,Dont want to come out someones bowel movement, lol,If you want, friend me,I will send the info on to you. Happy New Year,God Bless America & Our Military.
