I am not much of a fan of the WSM catridges so I would go with the 30-06.

Go with the 30-06. My opinion, the WSM's were an attempt at re-inventing the wheel. The 30-06 is much more versital round and cheaper. Not that it really matters but most bolt rifles hold 4 or 5 rds and most of the WSM rifles only hold 3 rds.
I wouldn't buy a WSM, I feel I have enough fire power from my 7X57 and my .308

I am a big fan of the remingtons. I have a friend who has the 30/06 winchester synthetic and it will kick your teeth out lol.

Tracer is an unknown quantity at this point
I too am not a fan of those WSM calibers! The only one that does bare merit in my humble opinion is the .270-WSM. However, I would take the 30-06 hands down over the WSM caliber. I am a model 70 Winchester pre-64 big fan and own several but caliber wise the 30-06 is one that handles most big game animals in Canada and the lower 48 states with proper bullet.

Ammo availability alone demands the .30/06, although the Winchester is the better rifle.

I wouldn't buy either, unless low price is a big factor. I'd buy a Winchester Classic Featherweight in .270 or .30/o6 or a CZ or Sako rifle.

I do have one synthetic stocked rifle, a Howa 1500 in 7mm-08. The recoil is not excessive, but it kicks less than a similar .30/06.

I usually support Winchester over Remington in almost all aspects, but I do loke the 700. They're still well made, but more importantly the 30.06 is a more common caliber.

There are many fish in the see, other than a Winchester in an odd caliber and a Remington in a good caliber. Have a look at Howa, other Winchesters, Rugers, especially Browning, and sako.

I'm a big fan of the pre 64 M70 but after that it's Remington all the way. With all the quality complaints and management changes i just don't think it's the same anymore. I love my model 700 SPS 7mm Rem Mag! And remember that the military chooses Remington actions as their sniper rifles so i think that they're relyable too.
