I had one years ago. It was built well and did not have any problems. The machining on the outside was rougher than the inside. The problem with the WASR rifles is that they were built as 10-round rifles, which is why the magazine wells are all Dremeled out once they get to the US to accept standard AK magazines. They don't have the "tits" protruding into the magazine well to stabilize the 30-round magazine since they were not designed to take it. I never had any reliability problems caused by this, or anything else on that rifle, but it is noticeable that the magazine has lateral play when it is in the rifle.

It should function just fine. It will have the problems listed above but there are a million things you can do to these rifles just like AR's. You can leave it box stock or go nuts with them. I happened on a good deal on a Rommy SAR-1 that called out to me. You will enjoy yours as well.

They are ak's, they function fine. Some have front sight's that are canted, you can fix it if you want, or just adjust accordingly. I haven't had any magazine rock issues with the two wasr's I own, but the mag wells are tight....Bulgy plastic mags won't fit in them, but tapco's and steel mags work well. Put a tapco trigger in it if it doesn't come with one already, and it will probably be a lot more accurate than folks tell you to expect. I wouldn't target shoot with one, but mine are under 4 inch groups at 100 yards all day long even with cheap ammo. Can't complain about that.

Rev,

You aren't joking about the accuracy. My Mini 14 was never a target gun but the beater AK clone could shoot just as good. Then I made the mistake os slapping a cheap red dot on the AK and now I can actually see what I am aiming at that much better. Now I would even take it hunting if I wanted. For a cheap junker it really is a fun gun. I bought mine when you could still get them for less than $300. Adding the Tapco M4 adjustable stock makes for a better feel in the shoulder. I think it looks overly "tacticool" but the metal buttstock print didn't feel too nice after a while. Then again, it is wearing a red dot so now it looks straight arm chair ninja. Sigh... I swear I wasn't trying to, it's just how it worked out.

Oh and buy some ten and twenty round mags. You will get more enjoyment from them than the overly bulky 30 round mags.

I've had one for a few years. It has a ferocious appetite for ammo. other then that no issues.
