I agree. I have a mil spec AR (Colt) that cost me about $900. As much as I like it it is NOT twice as good as an AR556 or Sport II. The Colt may be more durable but functionally it's not any better. A lot of very hard use may expose some weaknesses in the lower priced ARs but I doubt many of us use our rifles that hard. It's difficult to buy a bad AR these days. I'm sure there's a few bad ones out there but most well known AR manufacturers are producing pretty decent rifles.
