300 Build Done

Well with the arrival of my tax refund, I was finally able to finish my 300 build. It was done pretty much on a budget, with basic parts and with numerous references to Aqualungs ppt.

Parts used:
Anderson Stripped Lower
Anderson Lower Parts Kit
UTG Buffer Tube Assembly
Magpul CTR Lok Stock
Brownells 300AAC Upper
Brownells HPT/MPI Nitride BCG
Radical Firearms Charging Handle
Magpul BUIS Front and Rear

Took it to the range on Sunday and put about 120 Rounds of Remington 120gr OTFB and Armscor 147gr FMJ through it. Ran into a slight problem from the first shot, the trigger wouldn't completely reset, had to manually reset it the rest of the way. Luckily, the range I shoot at and am a member of has a gun shop and I am friends with the gun counter manger. We got to looking at it and realized that I had installed one of the springs in upside down. Once I got over the "dumba**" moment and feeling, we got it fixed and the rest of the shots went well. Got it sited pretty easily; it took about 15 rounds to get it sited horizontally and another 12 to get it sited vertically. For open sights and a pretty shaky rest, I was pretty pleased with how it shot. The picture of the target attached was as I was finally getting and sighted in and seeing how it handled off hand with relative quick shots, so please forgive my terrible shooting. Let me know what you guys think!

Rifle looks good. Curious as to what distance you were shooting.

I was shooting at approximately 40-50 yards. The 100 yard range was occupied and since I was just doing a function test and sighting in the BUIS, I figured 50yds(ish) would suffice. I plan on putting a 3-9X Bushnell hunting scope on the rifle occasionally, but for this round, was just open sights.

The rifle looks great and it seems to be a decent shooter.

If it shoots anything like mine, using my 125-130grn loads, it'll hit pretty much the same POA at 50 and 100yds.

Ain't building these things fun?

It was fun alright right up until I realized something wasn't right with the trigger. It was fun again while we figured it out and got the gun back together. Rather frustrating at first though! I was impressed that there was very little to no variance between the 123gr loads and the 147gr loads. Makes me confident on POA on factory loads of the entire supersonic range.
