Got myself a minty pre-safety Marlin 39A

Well I'm picking it up tomorrow... But it is a beaut. I'm buying it with 3 bricks of Federal Auto-Match. He said its 98% condition and by the pictures... pretty. Price is $650 with ammo. And for those waiting for the AR-15 news, I did not make it up to my brother's place in PA this weekend to shoot his AR's and buy one probably the Aero Prescision one. I am about to go on a spree of gun buying... The AR-10 is next but ill do that when I return from Basic training and AIT for Armorer. I am going to be a gunsmith in the reserves, which will give me experience in that department and I should be able to work on AR's and pistols on the civilian level I'd think.

I am re constructing my gun pool... I have stuff but I *NEED* 2 AR's one in 5.56 and 7.62, a .444 or .45-70 lever gun, this 39A, and a Model 94 .30-30 or .32 Special.

Congrats on the 39. Keep it for as long as you can!

I still have my 39AS I bought new in 1994 or there abouts. A great gun, even with the safety.

CottonMcKnight will become famous soon enough
Roughly $590 without the ammo, so a pretty good deal especially in that condition. No safety means it is pre-1983. How old is it?

1976 he said... He also offered me a 2002 model for the same price in same condition but I wanted the pre-safety model

The 39A is a great gun. Spend some time to get to know it and you'll have it forever.

I have a 39M Golden Mountie my parents bought me for Christmas when I was about 12 or 13. I am 52 now and the Marlin is still pristine. Have an 1894 in 357 I got a few years later. It's mint as well

I've been a long time collector of the 39A. The Cadillac of .22 rifles. It will last several lifetimes.

Older 39A is about the most accurate rifle I've ever shot with iron sights. Back when I had normal vision! LOL
