I'm holding out for good quality .45acp carbine that takes high capacity mags. If some manufacturer developed a carbine that looked good, functioned well, shot .45acp and had high capacity mags they would sell like hotcakes.

I would love to own one but I asked a LGS Hi-Point authorized reseller if they have it and I was told that the carbine's not CA legal.
There is a CA-legal version of HiPoint carbines in 9mm, 40 and .45ACP. Turners runs all three in their ads about every 5 weeks or so. They have a different magazine release than the 49-state version, but everything else is the same.

The 9mm is on Turner's ad right now for $349, but that will change tomorrow.

I agree with rammer jammer, about the Pro Mag 15 round mags working just fine in the 9mm Hi Point Carbine as I've got a couple myself and so far no problems, as my son just loves it.

I have shot the 9mm version of this carbine before. I was actually pretty impressed with it.

I have the "old ugly" 9mm version & it's a blast to shoot.

Don't plan on upgrading anything.
How much do you really want to invest in a $150 rifle?
Has the iron sites & is fun

Shoots everything you feed it.

Have the 15 rnd mag, plus 5 of the 10 rnd mags in a tactical case.
I wouldn't hesitate to use this in any situation

arquebus357 will become famous soon enough
Reviewers aren't particularly enthusiastic over HiPower's auto pistols but I have yet to see an unkind review on this cool carbine.

Wise purchase

near the top of my "must have" list

I used to own the 9mm carbine. It was an excellent shooter...accurate and reliable with everything from white box to +P+ JHP.

If HiPoint would make a version using Glock magazines, I'd buy another.

A friend has the old Planet of the Apes looking 995. It shoots great and works fine. I would have no complaints with it for the price. The trigger is really weird, though, it sort of falls away from your finger after it breaks. But once you get used to that, it breaks nicely.

A version using Glock mags would be cool... or even if the 4595 took 1911 mags.

I have had a 9mm one for several years and it has been fun to shoot. Can't go wrong for the price!

Pistol Caliber Carbines have their place, but mine is intended just as a fun gun and I wouldn't even consider spending big bucks on an expensive 9mm AR, Berretta storm etc. Sure those are better guns but I'll have a lot more money to spend on ammo. Hi Points are certainly guns that I don't mind feeding steel cased ammo.

BTW- I have 5 of the ProMag 15 rd magazines that have all been flawless. There is a lot of horse hockey on the interwebs about them not working right.
I have two of the 15 round promag first generation mags that didn't work reliable till I added a higher epoxy front lip to it would activate my last round hold open mechanism. Shortly after that promag started shipping mags with the taller front lip.

There are a lot of the crap mags out there.

I've had a Hi-Point Carbine in 9mm for years and one day at the range a number of gun snobs gave me the business until I started rapidly knocking down steel targets at 50 yards, then they all wanted to try it!

I tried a HP 9 pistol and it never jammed. I sold it to fund another purchase. I got a 995 a couple years ago for $75 just for range fun. They can serve a purpose but I don't depend on one for SD.
