order from Powder Valley

I received my order today from Powder Valley. With this order was some Vihtavuori n32c tin star. I noticed the date of 7.8.2006. That is over 7 years old. I'm sure it is still good powder but geez. My last order from PV of Viht N140 arrived as 1.12.2011, almost 3 years old.
I just bought one pound of Viht N320 locally last Saturday from a small company that had a date stamp of 19.8.2013. You would think a company moving large amounts of powder would be selling something fresher?

Good question, but maybe better asked about the distributer or other source PV gets powder from.

IIRC, unlike (eg) Titewad, n32c is not an item PV has always shown as "in stock".

I have some IMR-4350, IMR-4895 and Unique that is about 30 years old that I bought from a guy over 20 years ago. The 4350 had never been opened, the others had. I just recently opened it for reloading some 7mm Rem Mag and every round has been fine. I've also shot several with the Unique and not one has failed to fire. The IMRs are both 8# cans and the Unique is 4#.

I see your point. If I'm paying current prices, I'd expect to get powder that has a somewhat recent mfg date.
