With all the gun crap on the news we have a shortage of reloading components, or do we? I have noticed price increase before this. You know, the price rise because it is a new year thing. Do you think that components will become available but with another price increase? Please,,,, lets hear your opinions?

I have been reloading for about 40 years. The first supply problems i remember were after Clintons AWB, it took several years for supply to catch up with demand.
The high demand for ammo. right is going to slow the flow of reloading components.
The Hazmat has always been a pain, and if I remember right they can't ship primers and powder in the same box.
The only advice I can give is when things do settle down and it may take several years. Is STOCK UP
I can tell by the forum here alot of guys that are getting into reloading do not have friends that reload, so there is no one to split an order with. If you could with this forum or the Tea Party Community site you could find someone close to home to share an order with.

There is a shortage of powder and primers here in Colorado and a wait on bullets orders up to 6 weeks.
This same thing happened in 2008 and it took a few months to calm down.
Like other have said, stock up when things settle down

"Stocking up" is exactly what is causing the ammo shortage right now....!

They can ship powder and primers together. My last shipment had 5k primers in a box, and 3 cans of powder also boxed and combined in the same shipping box.

I've noticed a severe shortage in reloading components, it's because of this craze. As far as component prices, copper and brass have been increasing in price for years now, I think China has something to do with both of them, especially copper.

WOW, I actually found 5 (100 each primers) boxes of CCI 500 Small Pistol primers this weekend at Bass Pro. Luckily I have a lot to get me through for a while. So I grabbed them for my friends at the Single Action Shooting club I belong to.

My LGS in Mid Missouri had a few K of large pistol left but no small pistol or small rifle. I picked up a couple large . The price last month for Winchester was $31 per k now was $38 per. ouch . A brick of 500 22lr was $37.50 .

The one thing that I fear is the Federal (or State) Government to opt for how California use to do its ammo sales and that is through a dealer only. NO MAIL ORDER at all for ammo. If that happens, no telling if it would spread into the components version of that. Smithy.

What reloading components I've purchased since the first of the year have been the same price that I paid last year. So far none of the increase has showed up in my area. So far the only shortages I'm running into is primers and now bullets. I guess we'll find out when everything calms down.

I bought 2000 SRPs today, my local supplier had every kind of primer you could want in stock, and most powders. Bullets have been getting a little harder to find, especially 9mm and .224, I have seen 130gr 38super bullets that will work in 9mm's but I am not that short on supplies yet.

There's spot shortages around here. One place will be out of primers, another will not have the more popular powders (W231, H335, etc). Bullets are still pretty easy.
Loaded ammo in the military calibers is trickling in (5.56, combloc, 9mm). You just have to keep awake and move quick. It doesn't seem to be as bad as '08. Having stocked up with reloading supplies in 9-10-11 makes this time a lot less stressful.
