Wrong Primer?

Ok guys, here's my problem. Just reloaded a box of 50 rounds of .38 special for our local club's Wednesday match. After getting them all done I noticed I had used small magnum pistol primers instead of standard primers. Had my head up my backside and grabbed the first box I saw and didn't read the label.
Do you think this will cause any problems? Just don't want to hurt anyone including myself and would prefer not to destroy my revolver.

Using 5.2gr of Win 231 powder with 110 gr hollow points.

Thanks for your help and opinions!

You left out COL as well as bullet mfg. This load sounds medium. What are you shooting these with?

OAl is 1.43" with Hornady 110 gr hollow points out of a Taurus Tracker model 627 .357 mag/.38 Special.

My loading guide stated a starting weight of 5.1 gr.
First time trying this combo. It was recommended by a gentleman at the range.

If you are shooting these out of your .357, you should be fine. You're pushing the limit for a 38 Special within SAAMI specs tho. Quickloads is showing 15082psi with your recipe, and the max is 17000psi. Mag primers do add some to the pressure, but not a great deal.

Thanks for the info. I am still fairly new at this reloading thing and wanted to be sure.

NAAsilent provided great info; I believe the rule of thumb is: if you are not using anywhere near the max powder load recommended, you should be fine.

You didn't indicate what primer you are using; I've read that CCI primers are not as hot as Winchester & Federal, so that a mag primer from CCI would probably be equal to the Winchester. I believe that the Federal ones are hotter.

Go on their sites and compare; good luck...

Shoot away, that load with magnum primers is mild for jacketed out of a .357 revolver and IMO a .38 spcl. +P revolver as well.
