| trying t/g for 9mm
just picked up 1# of t/g from my local reloading supply store. it looks the same as hs-6 that i've been using an also comes out of my powder dispenser leaving some flakes drifting down on my floor. unhapply. starting out with 3.2grs in 5 round stages of .1 gr increases to 3.6 as my last. my book said to have a col of 1.100. it seames short to me but that is what i'm going with. will check back to let you know how they work out. shooting SR9 full size. I assume you are loading 147 grain bullets?
I just got back from the range. Shot some 9mm hard cast rn bullets 124 grain. Did some 3.8 gr Titegroup loads and some 3.9. Last time out I did some 3.6 and wasn't happy with the accuracy. The 3.8 and 3.9s were good. I wanted to try some 4.0 (max listed for this bullet and powder), but grabbed the wrong box heading out the door.
The Titegroup leaves the gun a little dirty, but seems to work well. A little barrel leading, nothing that a couple rounds of brass brushing doesn't remove.

CLOVISHOUND yes 147grfn plated bullets from x-treme. we have a pin(bowling) shoot every other thursday here in VERO BEACH FLA. its a side by side shoot. the first one to knock the (5) pins off the table wins. is a lot of fun. we shoot any center fire pistol you want. mostly 45 but some bigger ones also. with the 9mm i have my work cut out trying to beat the bigger cals. I'm trying to translate. I've got:
"Never tried Titegroup for my handgun (a new ????). I use a lot of Unique, Bullseye, and titegroup. When I go to ? and ? my handguns I find more accuracy with Unique..." |

JaPes.......you reading my mind....?
Sorry to all, but cheez whiz.....
if 6...turned out to be 9....I don't mind
If the hippies cut off all their hair.....
I don't care......
For those that don't 'roll their own'.....
the acronyms [in the above post]may seem intelligent and
fancy , to some degree , .......
but very alarming to those that have done so for decades....
jus' sayin'........
Reloading ammunition does not require a degree from NASA or
any type of scientific wizardry.....
but it can BLOW YOUR FINGERS OFF if not done properly !!!!

I use 4.2 gr of titegroup under a 124 gr xtreme plated and it shoots excellent out of my sr9, and my p229.

I prefer Win 231 for 9mm as it meters very evenly and you will notice very little spills happen with it. They will all give you that flake or two and some are worse than others depending on what powder measure you are using.

Just a kinda rant regarding errant use of abbreviations. They really make some posts difficult to read...

I load 4.6gr. of Power Pistol behind a 147 gr. lead bullet, it runs just over 1000 fps out of a Beretta 92 - and the bowling pins jump. I've beaten 45 ACP, but with a 9mm you have to hit them dead on or the just roll over.

just came from the range trying out new titegroup loads. they did shot well. no ftf or fte. seemed alittle weak on recoil. grouped pretty good but as tite as the hs-6 that i've been using with 147gr plated bullets. will have to shoot more of them to get a better fell for them. that is'nt a bad thing tough.
