This is a 125gr JHP pushed by 22 grains of H110 out of my SP101 (You'll want the cushy Hogue grips if you don't have 'em):
Note how the slower burning powder gives you another 400 fps at a lower chamber pressure. This is from Hodgdon's site (but look it up yourself 'cause you don't know I cut & pasted right!): Code: 125 GR. HDY XTP Winchester 296 22.0 1966 41,400 CUP
125 GR. HDY XTP Hodgdon H110 22.0 1966 41,400 CUP
125 GR. HDY XTP Hodgdon Titegroup 7.5 1497 41,200 CUP | Yup! I like the 125gr xtp with the 22gr of H110 listed above. Makes a great flash ... can't even see the target when you pull the trigger.

Try Ramshot Enforcer or Accurate #9. Either will give you velocities as high as W296/H110. Muzzleblast may not be quite as much, but it will be close and either can be loaded with a standard small pistol primer. Both are capable of exceptional accuracy with full power loads, but work up from a start charge. |

Smithnframe, normally, I send a message like this through private message, but I could not let the danger presented by your text stand uncorrected.
This forum is read by many people of all skill levels. Novices may not know how energy-dense some powders are.
A case-full of that powder is likely to destroy any firearm in which it is fired.

When someone wants a load so they can "put on a show" what would one expect?

Ever hear of VihtaVuori powder? It’s a premium powder that comes with a premium price. If you want high end accuracy at velocities short of being nuclear than VihtaVuori powder is your answer. Look it up on line and download their load data or pick up their reloading manual. I use it for .38sp, .357 Magnums, .44sp, .44 Magnums and .45 Long Colt. It’s very hard on brass so use new brass, I use Star line nickel brass and it holds up really well with heavy loads. Be sure your gun is in good condition; most off beat brand name guns will not handle the high pressures and will cause damage to the gun and you. Start out at low end and work your way up. Max loads will only cause flame cutting and throat erosion and shorten the life span of your gun. I’m not into that “Big Bang” theory; I load for long range high end accuracy which means speed and distance. It will let other know you’re at the range.

I would hqve to say, go through your load data book and find the loading combination with the highest pressure, after all the blast you hear is just the releasing of pressure.

Get a shorter barrel that will make more noise. That said, I just got a 180 gr HPGC mold from MP molds and have worked up a load of 16.5 gr of H110 it shoots great and Brass falls out of cylinder. I will use this for Whitetail 50 yards or closer. Feels like shooting a 22 mag out of my 6" gp100, well maybe a bit more than a 22 mag, but like others have said if you are looking for the wow factor get a bigger gun, minimum of a .454 Casull or maybe just wow them with how well you shoot. My 125 grain Jacketed bullets use 22 grains of H110 these are for my wife to shoot.

If you’re looking for just a “BIG BANG” get yourself a replica .58 cal. Black powder cannon. Much safer…

Why would anyone need a hotter load then a 158gr 357, the Ka-boom makes people at the range jump high enough???? Its not for show, its for self defense!
