| Primer shortage
Anyone out there having trouble finding primers? Went to the local reloading shop, all gone. Curious I tried Nachez, Cabelas, and Midway Shooting. All CCI primers on back order. Winchester primers also an back order. Just another shortage? Welcome any comments.

I've seen this happen before. Granted I know people stockpiling primers, which probably contributes to this. But what easier method is there to keep people from reloading? Not suggesting any conspiracy, but what would be a more effective method. Doesn't seem to an issue locally.

My local supplier has plenty, but Bass Pro was out the other day. I try to keep a couple thousand of each in hand as a minimum. I'm happier if I have 5k of each. I got caught short in the mid 90's shortage and spent six months shooting factory ammo - that really made me appreciate my loads. Factory ammo sucks.

Bas Pro here in Springfield was real thin last Tuesday. My fave gunshop seemed to have a good stock of Winchester and CCI primers. I have some powder coming is this week I think I'll get a ahead a bit.

election year and all my local stores seem to keep some in stock but they fly off the shelfs.
There seems to be some slim pickings for everything from ar parts to reloading components.

Today I pick up 2000 small rifle primers at my LGS, because I was there. He was well stocked on everything else, but only had around 15,000 SR on hand.
I guess its all about how much you use. I load a lot of small primer cases between 223 & 22/250s. but I use much less than 1000 larger rifle primers a year. Between my son and I we use 5000+ small pistol a year, so I keep at least that many on hand.
Pretty much keep a year supply minimum of each caliber.

My online sources seem to be out of stock however my local stores have stock, albeit at expensive prices.
I want to get a few thousand wolf small pistol from Wideners at $15 per thou again... Somehow I think that may have gone the way of 99 cent gas though.

The Texas facility that burned down is most likely the primary cause of any 'shortage' anywhere. They supplied ingredients/chemicals necessary to manufacture reloading components.
