I shoot a lot of Berrys in 9mm, 40cal and 45acp. and some in .38. Just ordered 2000 more 40 cal. I switched from Montana gold because Berrys is cheaper and for a plated bullet can hang right there with a jacked as long as you keep it under 1200fps. For hunting a jacket would maybe do better . I shoot USPSA most guys around here are shooting Berrys..
I'll stay with Berrys ..

As I said in post #13, I did find that Powerbond had cheaper .44 and .45 bullets but besides that, its Berrys all the way. Its hard to find better quality and price. Just lay off the slowest end of powders and the crimp is no big deal. I've been reloaded 5000 pistol rounds since my start about a year ago. 500 were XTP .38/.357 and 500 Rem 9mm, ever since my first 1000 I've done all Berrys for the next 4000 and they have been great. Believe me, I look around for a cheaper, better bullet constantly...

I like everything about Berrys when it comes to customer service emailing you back, website is a clean look to it, cleaning brushes $4 for 3 vs $2 or $3 at the gunstore or walmart, cheap ammo storage boxes, many bullet styles, and they have never been short. I always keep track and there are usually just a few over the count.
I dont get where people keep coming up with other brands being cheaper in FMJ

I'll stay with Berrys .. | I don't buy from Montana Golds site I buy them from a local gun shop,
For the jacked 44mag. 240gr it's $19.99 per 100, 38/357 JHP 125gr. is $9.99 per 100, 38/37 JHP 158gr. is $10.99 per 100, the guy that owns the shop buys large cases of them so he gets a better deal that I can ordering myself and he passes the price on to his customers. |

Berrys 125s are 89.30 vs your 99.90 and 158s are 106.53 vs your 109.99.
Youre getting a good deal on jacketed 158 grains but.....
Youre paying 25% more on .44 and 10% more on 125s unless you NEED jacketed bullets. I mean thats a good price for 100 at a time, but youre buying 1000 primers per box usually, why not get 1000 bullets instead of wasting gas and going to the gunstore every week or 2? Count in gas vs free shipping and youre paying a lot more. I'm sure you probably buy a couple hundred at a time, but recently I've been banging out a large amount of reloads in 1 or 2 sessions, I've cleared a box of 1000 primers in a weekend before and last week I went through over 600 9mm in about 3 or 4 hours with the Dillion. Depends on your shooting needs, but I find it nice to have 1000 on hand.

Yes paying a bit more but getting a jacked bullet instead of plated, and can load some nice hot loads the plated would never handle |

Currently I load for the 2.25in SP101 with 158gr so Ill never have to worry about going over 1200fps. If I acquire a different gun, my bullet needs will probably change. For a 100 box, those are good prices though, around here its usually 14-18, maybe every 20 bucks for any .38/.357 box of 100s

I dont think Id ever have to go to a FMJ for .38spls if Berrys keeps their prices relative to FMJs as it is now, no matter what gun I shoot it out of. Even 158 .357s are just hitting 1200 or 1250 in an 8in barrel (Hornady 8th). A 4 or 6 in, seems like you wouldnt need more than Berrys 158grs, all day.
If you can save 10% plus a few bucks on gas, why not?

Nick here's another site I use if I want plated bullets check out their price list they can really blow Berrys away "X-Treme Bullets", 44 240gr FP is $120 per 1000, 38 125 gr. are $81 per 1000, and 38 158gr are $94 per 1000

Not bad, their 9mm is only $1 difference but I am paying 106 for 158gr FP vs their 94. Why dont they accept online orders? I have to call them up and place an order like neanderthal! Hahah I'll start looking up reviews, going to send the SP101 back to repair anyway, my gun came with a really rough forcing cone

Never had a problem with Berry's recommendation of a light crimp on my 357's for plinking. No fouling or leading in handgun or rifle keeping under the 1200fps speed limit. Putting them over Trail Boss or Titegroup, I can shoot all day long. Prices are not totally cheap, but decent, catching sales at Midway or Cabela's online or an occasional visit to the Billings store. LGS never sell Berry's and Rainier saying they can't compete with online sales. I want to try their hollow points next, but I've got a backlog of experimental loads to shoot up first.

Montana gold for my SP101 2 1/4 barrel using 296 powder 1336fps, seams to work real well.
I load hot loads in 44 mag. for my rifle, light rounds for my Vaquero's when target shooting.

X-Treme bullets can be ordered online via the Freedom Munitions web site. I recently ordered a box of 180 Gn 40's. Paid the exact same price as listed on the X-Treme web site and got X-Treme's free shipping - something Freedom Munitions does not offer on loaded ammo.

Interesting posts you guys.
All I was really looking for at the time was a plated bullet that was cheaper than a jacketed one, but not likely to lead the bore, seems I may have to keep looking for something else besides Berry's. (Rainer brand maybe?)
But I did take the .44 out today, and the Berry's did very well accuracy wise! |

I'm using some Xtreme plated bullets right now free shipping decent prices.
the copper fouling seems a little greater with the plated bullets than jacketed ones and I'm sure if you pushed them to fast the rifling would shread some of the plating and still lead your bore.
ymmv safe loading to ya
