Figuring cost per round when reloading

I make this up this past weekend. This may help someone figure out how much you would save when reloading.

All shaded areas are user inputs.

Cost per pound of powder
Gr per bullet

primer cost
number of primers

bullet price
number of bullets in box

and quantity

If there is something you would like to see different let me know.

For some reason i cant upload it but here is the file. could someone upload it for me. Thanks Ken

Greetings,

Cast lead bullets are cheaper than jacketed bullets, and work, as well as, jacketed bullets for most purposes in some calibers.

i know that in the spread sheet you can put in $.01 per bullet if you would like.

or $.01 per 10 bullets

Some of us reload purely for the pleasure of it and for the quality of ammo we can make.

Thanks KMRS. I think the spreadsheet is nice. Don't really understand the others comments? You simply built a spreadsheet for us to use, I don't see you arguing about the type bullets or whether we like to relaod for pleasure.. I also truly enjoy reloading but I have generally just figured cost (certainly curious) while loading.

My only problem (and probably because I am barely spreadsheet literate), it is opening as a read only file for me, I can't input data. Do I need to do something on my end or can you alter for me?

O crap i think that is my fault ---- copy and paste everything to a new spread sheet

high light everything then right click "copy" them open new spread sheet then right click then "paste" then resave sorry i didnt know i saved it like that

I know most people reload for pleasure or precision but if you can reload 2 different bullets and have the same outcome you can compare cost of both

Thank you for sharing, i reload for both pleasure and to save money, that is why some loads are my "economy" rounds and some are my peformance loads. But i always like knowing exactly what my inputs are incase i could get the same results with a little tweak. Another tool to add to the box, thank you for sharing.

I don't reload but plan to soon. Not sure where to start... but I'm starting by reading everyone's comments here and watching You Tube, etc. I will save your spreadsheet. Thanks!

f you reload for reasons of economy only not including pleasure of the task you need to figure the cost of reloading equipment. To amortize this over x amount of rounds divided by the cost of equipment or just figure you will reload forpleasure and economy and not get so involved. for the sake of it I figured a dillon 55 was paid off after the savings on 6k worth of 45 colt and did not need to figure in the loading of 38 super or others.

I gave up figuring cost cause if I save anything I just dump it back into supplies/equipment.

I thought this thread was about somebody being nice and sharing a spreadsheet to help with our loading, not everybody telling why they don't care what their ammo costs. At the very least you could give the guy props for sharing and keep your negative comments to yourself.

Reloading has been an evolutionary process for me. I started out reloading because I just wanted to know how. Then it evolved into saving some money. From there, I reloaded because I wanted to shoot better groups. Now I do it for all three reasons plus the added benefit of the "Zen factor" (It relaxes me)
I appreciate the spreadsheet and will use it. Thank you for sharing your efforts
