.480 Ruger reloading

I've casted abouth 250 boolits for my .480, they are a 420gr LFN PB. Unfortunately sizing dies are VERY limited for this caliber. My .476 sizing die only sizes the boolit down to .4765"-.477". My cylinder throats are measuring .475"-.4755".
Will this larger boolit still be ok to load and shoot?

I normally size at least .001" larger than the bore (groove) diameter or the same as chamber throat diameter if it is proper (equal to or very slightly larger than bore diameter).

If the loaded rounds will chamber freely, you should be fine.

I saw on your other thread that you are using a Lyman sizer...
I ordered a custom Lee push through sizer for my 480 (.4765" I think). The die cost me about $35 and a month of waiting time IIRC. I've been using nothing but W/W alloy with a bit of tin added so far and everything chambers without sizing so I don't bother.

Would you like to sell that sizing die?

Everything chambers fine. But when shot they are gonna get sized done to the throat (.475) and thats tha same as the bore diameter.

I more concerned about the added pressure since the throats are .002" smaller than the boolit.

Who do you recommend reaming the cylinder throats to .4765 -.477?

I'm going to hang on to it becaue I have a 325gr mould that I haven't tried yet, and I'll probably be trying a harder alloy down the road.

You can order one here: Lee Precision, Inc.

or just call Lee and tell them what dimension that you want.
