265 grain and H-110

I really like the LBT design 45Colt 265 grain cast bullet with a gas check. My powder of choice is H-110. The firearm is Ruger Blackhawk and a Marlin 1894 rifle. The load data packed with these bullets from Cast Preformance Bullets lists 24.0 grains of this powder as a minimum charge. What are some of the loads that you have used with this combination and your results. I feel that I can load a higher then minimum charge with this combo.

Thanks, Jim

This seems to be a really fine bullet. No one using it but me?

I shoot a RCBS 255 452 water quenched wheel weight that drops about that weight, and have used H110 @ 23-24 grains to push it out the barrel of my NMBH.

A little word of caution make sure you use a MAGNUM LP primer to light it up, I had some load data that did not state the use of LPM primers. Glad I only loaded 10, 'cause I had a SQUIB on the first drop of the hammer.

Check out John Linebaughs web site and read his stuff on the heavy loadings for .45Colt it is Welcome to John Linebaugh's Custom Sixguns -.

Stay safe

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I've read John Linebaugh's writings, very good stuff. I'm shooting this (24.0 grains of H-110) load in my Blackhawk and my Marlin 1894 with good results. I may bump it up to 25.0 grains.
