For some strange reason, Berrys is listing the SAAMI maximum over all length specs with a round nose bullet in the link you provided.

A .45ACP round with a flat nose bullet will have a shorter COL due to the shape of the bullet.

With the Berry's hollow points, I have to set the C.O.L. at 1.200" to 1.210" for my Ruger P series and my S&W Shield 45. My home built 1911 with Karl Lippard barrel is fine with the C.O.L. at 1.275"

I love Berry's 200 grain target hollow point bullet & to date, have used 1,500 of them with great accuracy in my 1911.

I load it to 1.200" cartridge overall length (C.O.L.)

They (SAAMI) publish a minimum & maximum C.O.L. for the .45acp & it is 1.190"-1.275"

I personally have never needed to load anything .45 acp cartridge to the max, but when I load Berry's lead 200 gr. round nose flat point bullet, (RNFP) it needs a C.O.L. of 1.190" or it does not function/feed well in my 1911.

Here is a link to the pdf I mentioned from Berry's that list a C.O.L. for all there bullets that I have found to be a great source of info, as most reloading manuals don't always cover plated bullets.

http://rugerforum.net/library/136437...col-chart.html

It's in the forum library, which thanks to our own Iowegan & others, has a wealth of information.
