Auto Comp was designed to produce a lot of gas to work in compensated semi-autos, but if it works for you, then it works. I couldn't find any Unique, but I did find a 4 lb jug of Power Pistol - it works for 9mm, 38 Spl & 45 Colt. Sometimes you use the powder that you can find. Out of my 7 5/8" Blackhawk 9.5 grs of Power Pistol gives me 980 fps.; 8.5 grs. gives me 900 fps. and 9 grs gives me 960 fps. Have fun.

It's all I have on hand right now. I plan on getting some other types of powder when I get a chance to get to the nearest powder supply store.

I too use the 255 HCSW in the 45 Colt its my go to bullet. That 7.4 group is good, if it were me I load a bunch and shoot em up.

All those Unique loads are good. It's what I use with similar bullets.

Dead thread resurrection...

Well, after another outing, and dismal results at 25 yards again, returned the New Vaquero to Ruger. That was about a 8 business days ago. I received a call from their customer service today saying that the gun was beyond repair. I actually got a voice message, and didn't talk to the lady, but tried to call back. Anyhow, I left a message and we'll see what happens.

At least I know it wasn't shooter induced error.

There wasn't anything wrong that I could see, just that I couldn't get a decent group at 25 yards. I fully expected them to say it was fine and it was shooter error.

I've had good results with 250-250 grain LSWC also using Universal. When powders were scarce I went through a few pounds of 800-X. It was dreadful to meter with the Dillon, but it worked quite well.
Power Pistol is also good for standard pressures and it meters easily through the old 550's powder measure.
