That brand is what one of the local ranges here uses (or use to use) as their 9mm range ammo. I believe the 9mm is 50 to a box. I used it once in a 9mm of mine, or I was renting one of their guns to try out and see if I liked that model. I shot two boxes and had one failure to fire. Don't ask me how I remember these things, I just do......I blame it on sobriety

Have any of you used Independence ammo?

I bought 150 rounds in boxes through my local range and I had 3 misfires in my GP 100.
I bought three boxes of .357 magnum Independence Ammo, and had some light strikes on the primers (which were CCI brand). This was a used GP100 with a trigger job and a fairly light trigger pull. The Magtech .38spl had no problems.

I ended up buying a spring kit and installed the middle-strength spring (8 pounds as I recall). No light strikes on the primers since them, even on the Independence Ammo.

techase, Independence ammo has Federal labels but it is made in Lewiston, Idaho, home of CCI. I did some research and learned a lot. Federal is owned by Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK). So is CCI, RCBS, and Speer. They also own Alliant Powder company too. For the most part, Federal and CCI are two separate competing ammunition companies but Independence ammo is an exception. Though labeled Federal, Independence ammo actually made at the CCI factory instead of the Federal factory in Anoka, Minnesota. It all goes to prove ... you can't tell a book by its cover. I've used several boxes of Independence in 9mm and .45 ACP. All did well except for one box of .45. That one resulted in considerable scatter. In the middle of the box I fired another brand and got tight groups. When I returned to the Independence the scatter returned.
