I've been using 125gr. Rainer flatpoints in our pistol league. I'm loading them into .38 special at about 800fps. I'm having trouble getting the Rainers and was wondering if the Berry bullets are comparable? Also does anyone have any experience with the X-treme bullets. I used them a few year back when they were West Coast bullet and they work well. I heard the original owners now have the company back.

I've used the Berry bullets and found them to be very well made. As with all coated bullets, they have velocity and pressure limits that are below traditional jacketed bullets.

Thanks 454PB. I usually load them between the lead and jacketed specs. I lean more towards the lead side. I've not had a problem with the Rainers. I used to cast all my own bullets. . But, I now shoot indoors and am trying to minimize my lead exposure.

I never loaded Raniers, but have loaded quite a few Berrys plated bullets. I've had good luck with them, but like all plated bullets, they are pretty picky. It took me a lot of experimentation to find loads that shoot good in my guns. Once you do, they work just fine.

Thanks guys, I ordered some X-treme plated bullets yesterday. I'll let you know how they work. I had very good luck with them when they were West Coast Bullets. I also like the fact that you can get then with a cannelure.

I haven't had any issues with Berrys plated bullets. Have run alot of them through a 9mm with no problems, accuracy is more than acceptable.

I just receive 1000 X-treme 357 125gr.fp bullets. They seem to be the same high quality as they were when they were West Coast Bullet. They worked very well for me in the past with Unique. I loaded up some tonight and I'll let you know how they shoot.

Hi Folks,
New guy here, but thought some of you might want to check out these 'Black' bullets. I have not tried them, yet, but intend to, as they are made just an hour or so away from my home. They claim to reduce lead exposure and barrel leading, and are not that expensive. http://www.precisionbullets.com/home.htm |
