today at the range talking about the lack of ammo

I was at the range today shooting the summer contest and an older gentleman was also there. He was sighting in his new Ruger American in 30.06 and we were talking. He was going to be hunting bear this fall and needed to make sure it was shooting where he was aiming. He had three shots to get it sighted in.

His son had bore sighted it so he though he could do it. Turned out it was perfect and all three of his shots were touching at 50 yards with a Nikon scope.

But to my story we were talking about the shortage of 22LR ammo and he mentioned that I seemed to have a lot and guessed right that I've had most of it for years. But I did have some new Federal Target Grade bulk in the black and white box. So I reached in and grabbed as many as I could and handed them to him. My guess is it was about 50 rounds.

I thought he was going to start crying. His grandson has been begging him to take him shooting but he couldn't find any ammo.

Good on you, sir. If we had more of that mentality, there wouldn't be a shortage in the first place.

I think the shortage is because there are so many new shooters that need ammo.

Good for you, I did exactly the same thing about a month ago. The guy had his sons and they had nothing to shoot for 22 LR. I have been lucky buying ammo and knew this was not going to hurt me. I sold 3 100 round boxes for $8.00 each, I know I paid more, but I didn't care. I tried to give them to him first, but he would not hear of that.
