Thumbs up Range Day With Grandson

The wife and I took our 9 yr old grandson to the range today for the first time, He had a blast. And did pretty well, But it was more about the fun not accuracy. It was a Great time.

Shooting the Ruger 10 22, He put about 300 rds through it.

Shooting the Glock 23 with Advantage Arms 22LR conv kit, About 200 rds through it.

And video shooting 10 22.

Good for you. It makes great memories. I know because I also have a 9yr. old grandson and we love to shoot together.

Yep, His first question in the truck on the home was "When can we go again?". Definetly something we're going to do on a regular basis.

Excellent! Enjoy ever moment. I know my 18 year old likes to go whenever he can. And for that matter the 22 year old, but at 9 that sounds like a great time. Goos for you, your wife and him.

Way to go Grandpa! My son is 10 and his grandpa (my dad) got him started around age 6 shooting a 10/22 and a MarkIII. Next year they bought him a Savage Cub 22LR single shot rifle - just his size. Things have moved along nicely and he is now my shooting and hunting buddy. We went through hunter safety class last year and bowhunting class just yesterday. We go deer hunting, turkey hunting, hog hunting and spend lots of time on the range. We especially enjoy busting clays. Pictured is his boar from a hunt back in June. And it all started with his grandpa.

Thank you for passing it on to the next generation.

Great picture. Awesome to see three generations enjoying the sport.

I'm planning on getting us into a firearm safety class together. I'm sure it will be great for him and I'm sure i will even learn something.

Consider your state's hunter safety education course, even if you don't hunt. Assuming your state's course is like mine the emphasis is on firearm safety throughout. Here in Florida the course is free and we even had range time with rifle, shotgun, black powder and compound bow. It was a great class and my son, who was 9 at the time, enjoyed every minute of it. Your state probably has something similar. Classes are a great way to build a foundation.
