| 1st Range Session with New SR 1911
All I can say about the SR 1911 is it's AWESOME!!!! Ive included a couple pics taken with my cell.
Pic 1 is the 1st 2 clips. Was aiming dead center on the 1st clip...raised towards the neck for 2nd clip.
Pic 2 was after shooting. The 'wild' shots were me just goofing around...pulling the trigger as fast as I could. Still not bad....
I think I'll keep it...lol

Congrats on the SR1911. I shot mine yesterday as well (sorry no pics) - 200 rounds and a ton 'o fun. The gun is sooooo accurate. I like to start at 7 yards and move back until I'm at 25 yards. I'll never be able to fully master the abilities of this firearm but it makes one look pretty good regardless. I was shooting American Federal without a single FTE or any issues whatsoever. In fact, I can't recall having any issues with any ammo to date. Can't say that about my friend's tricked out Colt......
Enjoy the SR1911! It's a great gun.

If the people posting here that want to know what's so special about an SR1911 (or almost any 1911) knew what you know now, I'll bet there would much fewer of them.

Enjoy the SR1911! It's a great gun. | I only wish I could shoot 50% of this gun's potential. Has a great feel in my hand. When I was just 'blasting'....I was about 20 yds. I picked up 2 boxes of WWB 230 FMJ when I bought it. Had not a problem. Matter of fact, I stopped at the local Walllyworld and bought 2 more 100 rd boxes. Might go shoot Monday. There's an indoor range in Crosby, Tx that's just needing to be tried out. Quote:

I bought the 1911 so GF and I can get concealed carry...each of us having our own pistol. I honestly believe the recoil on the 1911 is no worse than the SR 9. Im really hoping that my GF find this the same...it'd be a GREAT reason to go out and get another. Either way, and with what I now know, I'll get another 1911. I do have TWO hands...lol.

I'm embarrassed to post pics of my range session targets. They tend to have far fewer holes... Only much bigger ones
J/K Enjoy your new SR1911!

I've shot a lot of WWB through my SR1911. I shoot it for the pure pleasure of it so I'm not picky when it comes to ammo. It sems to digest whatever I ask it to eat without any issues. Right now it's American Eagle that I bought on sale in bulk. I'm always looking for ammo deals in 45ACP but I sense the urge to start reloading in the near future.
I don't have any exact duplicates in my collection but the SR1911 is probably the one I would consider doubling up on. It's just that good.

Im considering going the reloading route too. I did reload...years ago, but only 357 and 44. I dont have any of the equipment anymore...so Im going to be reading post, surfin' and searchin' for info on presses, dies, etc. I dont know if I want a single stage or progressive press. Progressive looks and sounds good, then again the single stage will force me to go slow and think about what Im doing. Im open to suggestions.
I'm going to have to do it in the house. I have an air conditioner in my little workshop, but there's sawdust, oil and gas, and grease...as it's my man cave. I read where some had mounted a press on a roll around tool cabinet, which I already have, and keep powder, dies, etc inside it. Or, possibly mount it on a power tool stand from say Sears (the type you'd put a small table saw on), and use the roll around for supplies. It'd take up much less space indoors, as well as be easy to move in the closet.

Lack of space is my problem. In hot humid climates this is something that has to be done indoors in the AC and I already get criticized for having too much "gun junk" everywhere. Perhaps I could get away with a small single stage press. Just have to figure out where to keep all the other stuff too. Our closets are already pretty full of other junk. I need a man cave........
