SR 40 report

A little disappointed, trigger pull a big issue , really had to concentrate to control it , not a natural thing to shoot.Once i had the pull figured out I could get pretty good groups , I guess for personal defense , I might be a little concerned,Other then the trigger issue , no ftf nor fte, pretty reliable in that area. this is my first striker fire pistol , might take some time getting used to it. did have to clean the striker channel really good was way to gritty , not to bad now , hope it gets better.

My 40C is the same way. Light strikes, trigger reset problems, fte, all sorts of trouble. I try cheap ammo, expensive ammo, and everything in between. I only have a few hundred rounds through it, but I take it to the range every week and try to work through some of the issues I am having. It's also my first striker-fired, but I bought it for home defense and I have absolutely no trust in it whatsoever. I keep a GP100 in the nightstand instead, but I refuse to give up on the 40C.

what exactly is your issue with the trigger pull?

my sr40c is actually a pretty nice trigger stock.

a good cleaning will frequently get the factory extras out and improve a lot.

I have gotten a couple trigger reset failures but that's without even doing a full detail on the pistol.

i cleaned the striker channel and just used my fingers to push the little tab on the trigger bar that resets the trigger in towards the center of the gun a bit more.

It looks like if i have a trigger reset failure that that little tab will go on the outside of the barrel lockup block.

I think if i use a limp wrist the trigger reset failure is more likely to happen.

I haven;t gotten back out to test the pistol since detailing the slide and the little tweak i did on the trigger bar but i hope it worked.

I intend to get the galloway smooth it kit including the ghost ultimate trigger bar.
mostly just so i can learn more about my gun by installing it but also i have read that it will fix the reset issue.

ymmv

ruger rudy you may want to send yours back to the factory that one sounds fubar

I have no issues with my SR40 and it's an early production model. Approaching 3k down the pipe and no failure of any kind. Mostly my own reloads. I wouldn't hesitate recommending an SR to anyone.

I guess a better way to explain it , Most of the time the trigger pull is crisp, at random it has the feeling like the safety is on ? pulling no bang ,{almost feels like trigger is bottomed out } I flinch , re grip the trigger then bang,I know its new ,and new to me ,as I said this is my first striker pistol.I guess I will wait till I take it around the block again to see if it improved after its second cleaning, Thanks again for all the input,

I also have an early SR40. Best 40 S&W pistol I've owned. No issues. Just keep the firing pin channel clean, and lube free. Went to a local shop with a guy and he bought a new SR40C. Slide was packed with heavy assembly lube, and he would have shot it that way. He has had no issues.

I had the same issue when I first used the SR-40, here's what helped I bought some snap caps and spent 5min. every evening practicing. Really noticed a big difference after aboutt 300 live rds. through the gun. Hope this helps you.

Mine works great I did install a ghost trigger bar I liked the trigger stock but love it now. You may need to clean and polish it real good. To me the SR40 has a better trigger than any stock Glock I have ever shot. I think I'm around 6 or 7000 rounds now all my reloads with only a couple stovepipes .

It will get better , Good luck to you !

Keep shooting and dry fire when you can. As Sportdog said, after about 300 rounds or so, you will begin to experience the cheapest "trigger job" you will ever get. I've had my SR40 for quite awhile now. 1500 plus rounds through the pipe and not a single issue and that's with WWB. The trigger was a little gritty at first, but the more I fired it, the smoother it got. Now smooth as glass. I carry mine loaded with Hornady Critical Defense 165 grain. Trust it with my life.

Yup been playin with it , I do think I am not used to this style of trigger fer one, and the more i play with it gets better , Gonna hit the range again Sunday , will see how it goes, I think my biggest problem is I am side paddlin the trigger ,and not hitting the saftey all the way,it is kinna wide, I will just need to practice. Other than this small glitch,[ operator error ], I think I ll be good to go .thanks again. I am a trans tech and my fings are not as nimble as they used to be

How much is this ghost bar thing, and can I put it in myself? IS IT WORTH IT ,or should I let time take its coarse.

This is there site Home you can read about them , There not hard to install just take your time and file a little at a time.
then you need to put a couple hundred rounds through it to get it smoothed out (that's what they told me). There is a step by step or some u-tube you can watch .
I went with the rocket from Galloway I think it was $27

Good luck.

My 40c had to go back to Ruger due to light strikes. But since getting it back, it is perfect. 100% function and very very accurate. Love the trigger and and the accuracy.

Bought an SR40 in SS last year and loved it. Put over 1000 rounds of cheap WWB ammo through it and had maybe 2 FTE (and I probably could have done a better job of cleaning things so perhaps my own fault.) Liked it so much I got the SR40C in black for CCW and have been very happy with it as well. Have shot Remington, American Eagle and handloads with only the rarest FTE. I couldn't be happier - great gun for the price. Bought the SR40 for $395 and paid around $425 for the SR40C. You can spend a lot more for pistol but I can't think of a good reason why.....
