| First time shooting my SR9 Went to the range for the first time ever with my lovely Ruger SR9. Loved it. The gun fired nice and smooth with the least recoil I could ever imagine a gun having. Rink's range is a bit warm and could be ventilated better but for 9 bucks it can't be beat. My range ammo today was a 100 rounds of Federal Champion 9mm 115 grain FMJ. You know the Wallmart burgundy box. The muzzle flash surprised me a bit but wasn't blinding or unreasonable for ammo that cost $12.99 for 50 rounds. 0 FTE or stovepipes. A flawless performance. I even tested a few rounds of CorBon 9mm 115 grain +P JHP and Hornaday Critical Duty 135 grain +P Flex Tip JHP. Both worked amazingly with CorBon being a little more snappy. I was especially pleased with the Critical Duty. Felt nearly like a normal round to me. It's also about 6 bucks cheaper than CorBon is around my neck of the woods. All in all I had a great time at the range with my friends and gun. If you have been sitting on the fence over getting a Ruger SR9 or any of the SR series pistols go rent one. You will not be disappointed. Here is a pic of the first 17 rounds I sent sailing down range. Let me know what you guys think. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater

Cool. I also have a SR9 and I love mine too. I love the grips. Did you use the flat backstrap or the arched? I have fired a few SR9s and the triggers varied. Of the 2 I ended up owning one had a silky smooth trigger and the other kinda "crunchy". My SR9c ended up with the silky trigger. Looking at the serial numbers there is a year difference with the smoother trigger being the newer one. I will be trying the Critical Duty ammo now. I would like to try it.

I too love my SR9 I have over 1000 rounds thru it with no problems attributed to the gun. I use this gun as home carry and trust it 100%. Enjoy your gun.

I suggest getting a Ghost trigger transfer bar, high grit sand paper, and some Mothers polish. A trigger job is really easy to do on the SR9, I've had mine for almost 2 years now and it is an amazing gun. I feel like it handles as well or better than every handgun I have shot so far so I was very happy that I chose it as my first handgun. Fed and shot everything well, out of 4000 rounds shot, maybe jammed 6 times due to limp wristing new shooters. For the price, amazing gun. I got a Stingray SR1 laser for it and it still fits in the same box, same holsters, its a slim laser and I think it does well. What finish did you get?

I'll check out the Stingray SR1 laser online. |
